Hi Jackie,

The best advice I can give is to have a look at www.RootsChat.com There are lots of family history researchers with much more experience than me there. Most of my info has been gained from www.1837online.com (pay per view) and info from my father. You can look for births, marriages and deaths on there and then send off for certificates to get more info. There are free sites but they don't go much past 1910. Might also be worth joining Gwent Family History Society.

As I said in an answer below, I recommend www.1837online.co.uk to find births, Marraiges and Deaths. I suggest that that the burials are likely to be in the Abertillery UD municipal cemetery at Brynithel if they are not listed on any of the local church/schpael buriual sites. To get details of graves there you will now have to contact Blaenau Gwent Council (NT) -- David - Webmaster, 22:11:23 05/01/05 Sun
- Should add that prior to about 1901 I would try www.freebmd.co.uk first as that is free unlike www.1837online.co.uk which is pay per view. The advantage with the latter is that it contains all the official records unlike free BMD which contains volunteers' transcriptions and so is not complete as yet.
