Hi Jackie,

The best advice I can give is to have a look at www.RootsChat.com There are lots of family history researchers with much more experience than me there. Most of my info has been gained from www.1837online.com (pay per view) and info from my father. You can look for births, marriages and deaths on there and then send off for certificates to get more info. There are free sites but they don't go much past 1910. Might also be worth joining Gwent Family History Society.
