CC, I couldn't agree with you more.

TT, I agree with your point on how Sami's evilness was developed but I still thought the execution was lacking. The thing with Reilly is that with those big payoffs comes a long, long waiting period. Unfortunately those waiting periods are filled with very silly incidents and repetitious dialogue. Remember how absolutely stupid Carrie and Austin were under Reilly? If they had any sense about them, they wouldn't have gone through so much before they hooked up. That's what frustrates me. Yes, a good story should have obstacles for the heroes to overcome but they have to make sense. One incident comes to mind. Carrie and Austin are having THE conversation about reuniting. It's 100% clear that they both want this and instead of going with the moment they make some dumbass agreement that if they want to get together then they will meet on the roof at midnight which, of course, Sami foils. And then, they are too dumb to even follow up and ask what happened. I can't believe any characters so much in love would wait until midnight when they are right there in the room having THE conversation that is obviously getting them back together. Who would walk away from that and leave it until later? These painfull contrivences of Reilly's really turn me off.

And what about Mike Horton? Once again his personality was changed to suit a storyline. Originally he was brought back being blackmailed by Stefano to get close to Marlena. That plot point never got explained nor developed so Mike Horton just sat on the backburner until Reilly could come up with a use for him. Reilly does that a lot. I noticed this on Passions when I watched it.

I believe that Reilly will pull up Days horrible ratings but I'm not sure for how long. The storylines that have been appearing on with Days aren't that far off from Reilly's style so I'm not sure how long the fans will stick with him. I'd watch for some crossovers between the two shows (something like Bo and Hope headiing to Harmony to catch a crook) and perhaps even a permanent crossover from Days to Passions to try to pull up the ratings. At this point NBC has to be pretty desperate. I won't be shocked if Marlena (or maybe Belle this time) becomes possessed. You just know that some suit at NBC figured if it worked once it will work again. I think in the long run it's like CC says, viewers will tune in to take a look at all the weird stuff but Reilly's execution will not keep them.
