The Almighty One's time has come.

James E. Reilly, some people believe he is a soap god, while others believe he is a hack. Well NBC has given
him a chance of a lifetime. Anyone can be a soap creator: Sally Sussman Morina (Generations) Guza, Pratt, Griffith (Sunset Beach) Culliton's (Port Charles) Dan Curtis (Dark Shadows).... but it takes someone special with multiple successes to be listed as one of the greatest: Phillips, Bell, Nixon, Dobson's, Marland. They all had multiple successes both creatively and in the ratings. Reilly has only had one. DAYS success in the 90's, (although his success was partly inflated since DAYS rise to # 2 was also caused by other soaps dropping, it wasn't solely by Reilly's work) Passions is a ratings disaster, the sooner NBC realizes this, the better. Yes, PSSNS was growing, but last year with the loss of Timmy, the show really hasn't recovered. Timmy made Passions unique. Another doll, or a monkey, just can't replace Josh's charisma and place in soap history. Reilly's cartoon like plotting and one-dimentinal characters are turn offs to any potential long-term viewer of Passions. Reilly does a great job in hooking viewers, but he can't keep them after the novelty fades. Reilly is truly a creative genius, its his story execution that is terrible and is failing Passions.

If Reilly gets DAYS demos to skyrocket and Passions jumps up and continues gaining, then he's on his way to greatness. I just hope after this chance of greatness, if Reilly fails, NBC's love affair with this man ENDS. If Reilly turns out to be a one act wonder, with no other great accomplishments, its time to say goodbye.

I wasn't sure what to think when I first heard of Reilly's move to DAYS. Now I'm convinced this is NBC's greatest decision in a long time. They've been under Reilly's spell for a while now, well now its show time. If he's as great as some say he is, its time for him to prove it!
