Subject: TWO NAMES? WHY?
Why do jews outside Israel shy from giving their kids Jewish or Israeli names? I know an American family that although non practicing ,gave their son the same Jewish name and REGULAR name; Baruch. They couldnt think of a good B name in english so they gave up and the civil name is also Baruch. The walls didn't cave in nor did the neighbors think they had become religious suddenly,nor did people think they were Israelis. Just an American Jewish Family, nonpracticing, naming their kid Baruch because theyre proud of being Jewish and love being Jewish. As Sean and Steven are names that came from some other ethnic group but are now quite American, maybe now Baruch will become as American. Can any Jew do this? Can all Jews if they want just give the Jewish name as also the American civil name? If so ,why do so many nonpracticing Jews not do it? Is it too Jewish? Are they afraid someone might think they have a black hat AND THATS A NEGATIVE IMAGE? I'M NOT RELIGIOUS BUT I TOO LOVE BEING JEWISH AND I NAMED MY BOY LEVI_AVIV My sis says only Israelis and very religious do that and although anyone can,its hard being the first.People will think youre a hassid and thats a negative image ,she says nonreligious Jews think the black hat is ugly and any name that might make people think youre wearing one, is unattractive.So Ill be among the first. I break new territory and say let all Jews, onpracticing,practicing and even aethiests who still love being Jews give their kids Jewish names and no more 2 names; a Jewish and then a REGULAR name.THE JEWISH NAME IS ALSO REGULAR, if we use it as such in everyday life by all Jews.

Some think we give 2 names because we are both proud jews and proud americans ,thus 2 names.But after thinking about it ,youre right.If a kid only goes by a jewish name like baruch,his folks are no less proud of being americans than folks that give their kid both a jew name and an american name .All names came into america on a boat with some group of immigrants arriving from some country and their names today have become american and so why cant jews do the same?Use the jewish name as not only a jewish but also as a civil name and in time it too will muscle its way into the book of normal american names and in the future, when some other ethnic group immigrates to the usa maybe they will in giving their kids american names, choose one of our names.Baruch can be just as american as steve or murry or greg,all names coning from some people somewhere.You can still be a proud american and a proud jew with a kid who has only 1 name ,a jewish name like simcha or mordechai or even baruch.The israeli show us that these names are ,if put into use ,quite nice sounding and give a positive image.So dont give your kid 2 names, a jew name and a second name coming from the greeks like steven or from the romans like lori.Give them a jewish name coming from the jews and thats it,one name like all other people do it.

There are no more Jews left in Canarsie. What do you think this is the 1930's, 40's,50's,60's,70's & 80's. The Niggers have now taken over and ruined Canarsie.

Actually the Jews moved out cause their kids left,earning alot of $ and went to bigger homes in Jersey and the island.Then the parents left cause they saw lil use for a 3 bdrm house without kindela.The nex ethnic group to arrive after the Jews left was the Hatian Blacks. So,nobody took over however somebody chose to leave and somebody chose to then buy.Im sure soon a third ethnic group maybe Russians or Israelis as it looks will eat up the place as the Blacks there now also move out as their kids leave to bigger homes wherever,just as ouir folks left on their own .

I moved cause after 24 years of loving my neighborhood Blacks moved in next door. Moved away from all my family and all my friends to get away. Had nothing to do with my being a Jew whose grandmother worked her entire life in America at a nearby senior center. Had nothing to do with the size of our house. Come on rebbie. Were all still Jews!

Time to open your eyes and close the synagague and move to Florida , maybe open a synagague there as thats where I believe alot of Jewish people go to when we retire , think its the law or something .
