I am 25 and have been living with RSD for 4 years. I have been trying to live with this by making small adaptations trying to convince myself that I can live and make a living like anyone living without chronic pain. Unfortunately, it has taken me four years to learn that instead of putting up with the ignorance of many who don't know and know care to know or understand chronic pain, I should be trying to change that ignorance into knowledge. Don't get me wrong, I know family and friends who are very compassionate and understanding as they see me at home when I am not trying to prove myself to the world. It is the people who don't know anyone close to them living with Chronic pain. I know we all have days where we feel like we can't go on anymore, believe me I know!

Due the lack of awareness of Chronic Pain and its implications on the rest of peoples' lives, I am trying to get some ideas of how I can build that awareness. If I only accomplish one thing in my life, it would be to help all those around the world who are working very hard to promote global awareness of a debilitating problem that many people do not even exists. I am trying to come up with ideas of how to help raise that awareness in my community, which is Dartmouth/Halifax, Nova Scotia.

I would be greatful if anyone has any ideas or knows of any existing efforts in the mainland of Nova Scotia.

I know how hard everyday can be and I hope we can someday make people see & awknowledge what Chronic Pain does. Now, I wouldn't have found my faith again or left a cheating ex-boyfriend if it were not for how strong RSD has made me. It's not exactly what I had in mind and I know any sane person would not wish this on the worst of enemies. Even WCB (hehe!)

So if you have any ideas or know of anything going on to build awareness in Metro Halifax I would love to help start someone or become involved in something!

I know I can talk a lot, so I will end this here.

Maybe someday, we can finally raise the awareness needed to spark the research necessary for any medical breakthrough!

You are all in my thoughts.

Blessings,

Cathy Lee
