Subject: Re: George William APPLEBY and family of Spittlegate, Grantham, Lincolnshire, England
In reply to: Judy Evans 's message, "George William APPLEBY and family of Spittlegate, Grantham, Lincolnshire, England" on 16:59:32 04/24/04 Sat

Yes, I recognise this family in Grantham. But they had not been there long so don't count as Lincolnshire Appleby s perhaps. I think Geo W. is the son of James born 13 September 1810 in Doncaster Yorks. I have not bought a marriage certificate but the index suggests James may have married Sarah Ann Binks in Doncaster in 1848.

I have long been trying to identify all the beneficiaries in the will of Annie Appleby of Ealing who died childless in 1914. Over the last month (November 2005)I have been using the internet to add to my Appleby research.

Trying to trace outwards from her known relatives to find her second cousins (whom she refers to as cousins).
One of the trails led me to the Grantham family. I therefore believe this George William is very likely a beneficiary of her will. I have more information if you contact me. I would also welcome further information about any descendents of John Applby and Susan Hicks who lived their adult life in Doncaster (and are not related to the family of Samuel in that same town.)
