My name is Luke Appleby and there's probably no connection but here goes.

My Great Great Grandfather is James Appleby. He was born in 1833 at Fingringhoe about 3 or 4 miles from Layer de La Haye and was actually married at Layer De La Haye in 1852 to Ann Wagstaff who was born in 1832( Yeah I know, Wagstaff sounds Spanish doesn't it? ) They had 10 children, 5 boys, 5 girls. I really don't know much else but you'd guess there might be a chance of some connection given the time periods and rare place name.
