I agree with you.

I think <<時間流轉的聲音>> and <<與天使同眠>> each has its own uniqueness in plot. The stories are told in different angles in the two books.

<<與天使同眠>> makes you, as a reader, feel like taking God's role to observe lifes of different people. You are sitting in a cloud above and watch underneath what happens to each person. You hear the prayers, the feelings and the complaints from each character one by one. Each one of them tells you what happened to him/her. On top of that, everyone tells you what happened to other parties according to his/ her observation. You know each one of them made some mistakes in his/her observation of what happened because only you possess perfect information.

You understand how they felt, the reason they did certain things and how they are influenced by other people and the circumstances. Each character is telling a unique story of a unique human in a given situation. You are appreciating what matters to a human given that particular situation.

In addition to that, you are given a chance to consider a change of plot design. What if the story not goes on as plan? What if this character has a different fate? The writer attempted to entertain this kind of complaints from a character called "Poet" in the story. There is nothing special about complaints. We all did that.

Each story is a protray of typical human in a given situation. There are something common in human nature, like love, hate, jealousy, fear and ambition, etc. She was not writing heros that has no fear and no selfishness. She was writing characters who are common people living around you.
She gave a convincing account of what happened to each of them and how each person felt.

You are hearing stories from each character. Every one is telling you the truth about why he/she did something and how he/she feels about it. Each character tries to observe and speculate how the other character feels and thinks and often having wrong conclusion, Each character possesses only imperfect information and is deceived by another person. None of them can see the whole picture of what happens to them. Only the reader can.

<<時間流轉的聲音>> is like becoming a spy. You steal someone else's identity and pretend to be that person. You faced choices and decisions of lifes. Because of different upbringing background and circumstances, the characters made different choices and with different preferences of lifestyles. We feel from time to time like being the wrong person, in the wrong place and at the wrong time. You do not belong to that community, time and space. What will it be like if we take a vacation from being yourself and become someone else is what the story is about. Do we have a deep root or close tie to our everyday live and people around, here and now?

There are always reasons to say the storys are similar. There are always reasons to say they are different. It depends on your angles. I think they are significantly different. Different or not is not something that important. The important part is to appreciate the writer's version of reality. Reality has a lot of versions and in different colours.
