Ruby

I generally support your view that Ip does not deserve any credit regarding her resignation. Her resignation comes too late and damages are done to Hong Kong. I cannot compliment her for anything.

As a paraphase, we saw a victim got robbed by a robber on the street. We failed to catch the robber. The robber was counting money from the victim's handbag before you and the victim. The victim out of her anger used f-words to swear at the robber. Will we condemn the victim for being rude? I really don't want to hear f-words but I cannot condemn the victim. The victim deserves more support than the robber at that moment.

I think Ip should be fired long ago. She refused to do statistics of how many people be affected by the litigation on right of abode for childern in mainland of Hong Kong residents before the litigation. After she lost the litigation, she suddenly said that there will be over one million people rush to Hong Kong from China. Is it not a clear negligence that hurt Hong Kong? The result is the overruled of the Supreme Court ruling by Basic Law re-interpretation from the People's Congress together with numerous litigations. Supreme Court did not know the statistics about one million people before making her decision. Also, some people may doubt whether saying over one million people will come to Hong Kong is fearmongering. Were there so many hong kong people travelling to China, having a mainlander partner and were so "productive" in Mainland? I am not convinced.

For the Article 23 issue, Ip did a lousy job. It is a fake consultation where professionals views and mass of people's worries are ignored. The opposition views became misinterpreted in conclusion as supportive view. She arrogantly refused the legal professionals advices' of using white paper consultation. This article 23 Bill can affect adversely the confidence of the whole world towards the freedoms of press, freedom of religion and freedom of speech in Hong Kong. If I were Ip, I have 2 choices. If I had power to act, I would make a fair consultation and not ramming through the bill. If I had no power to decide on that, I would resign right the way. I will not market a bill hurting Hong Kong so badly.

When compared to the above wrongs, impolite response in meeting is nothing and not worth mentioning. If I were the boss, I would fire someone that is not doing his/her job well, messing up the company and is distrusted by most colleagues. F-words are everywhere in parliamentary debate. People do get emotional. Competence and integrity are the real issues.

If i have no effective ways to help the helpless victims, I will not condemn their swearing. Hong Kong People are helpless and have no channel to do anything. Need I say more.

Last and least, Scott did resign. However, it was disputable that he resigned to show he was responsible for his wrong. He resigned to take up a Governor's post in another British colony. It was in fact a promotion.

However, I don't think the present Hong Kong government is more accountable than the previous British colonial one even having 2 chiefs resigned. Lawyers did not go to protest in the professional capacities in the old days anyway.

What next is more important.
