Janet has expressed that she desires to maintain "quality of life" and would consider suicide if she thought that quality was deteriorating. This suggestion puts a massive burden on her family, friends, and physician to monitor Janet's perception of her health. It is the responsibility of Janet's family to express to her, and always remind her, that there will always be there for her and that she is loved. They need to make Janet understand that suicide would definitely not be the answer because for Janet to commit suicide would be a much greater tragedy than if she were to fight the disease. It is the responsibility of Janet's family to always keep close observation of Janet's attitude towards her disease and to recgonize when it seems to be getting the best of her. Janet's family must provide the love and support that Janet would definitely require when she has the disease. Janet's friends also have the responsibility of making sure Janet knows that she will always have someone to turn to if she ever feels alone. Friends are always good to keep around. They should be able to provide the optimistic outlook that Janet needs to have. Janet's physician has the responsibility of keeping everyone informed about Janet's health, including Janet, her family, and her friends. The truth is always important, but having an optimistic outlook and approach to the whole situation might also be good for Janet. If the physician thinks that Janet's attitude is becoming worse, than there might be other options he is able so suggest that Janet's family has not yet exercised. All in all, it is the responsibility of Janet's family and friends to provide her with enough love, care, comfort, and support that she would not even consider suicide.
