Mary makes significant points in her response as well. She says that armed with the test results, Janet can help prepare her family. If Janet gets too sick for her family to care for her, the family will be prepared to make alternative living arrangements for her. Janet could also eat right and exercise , so as to try to delay the onset or severity of the disease. She would be there emotionally for her husband and children and make sure they are stable enough to help her deal with this situation. She would also inform her children when they are mature enough to understand the implications of the disease, and allow them to make their own decision about whether they want to get tested.
