"'A leaf in the wind' may soar for a short period of time, but when the dust settles and serenity sets in it falls to the ground, already dead."

Except Wash was trying to land them safely, so even the leaf's falling fits in w/the more positive side of the image. In fact, the leaf is "already dead" even while it's soaring--as soon as it's detached from the tree, long before the rake comes along. So what does this mean as far as Wash's skewering? Hell if I know, aside from a classic Joss shock reversal. Maybe I'm being too literal again.

And what in the world does "cod-poetic" mean?
