Whether the gain to society outweighs the loss is certainly debatable. In terms of any murder committed by the Dana-like slayers, the victim(s) would probably see the empowerment of the potentials as something less than a moral decision. Still, one could cite the “greater good for the greater numbers” argument. What bothered me about the whole empowerment decision was that nobody even considered the down side, perhaps because there was just not enough screen time to deal with all the issues (a position that seems reasonable since they did deal with this issue in Damage). The whole plan in Chosen made no sense to me and subsequent text did not help. The Battle of Sunnydale was won by Spike and his amulet, not the 30 some slayers. I could write pages on the logical problems with Chosen but that is probably better left for another time.

I seem to be a real trouble maker. I seem to stumble on ill conceived positions or make inflammatory statements which generate response-counter response and lead completely off topic (see: Magic Always has consequences, the magic-addiction theme was lame, Xander was trying to help Buffy in ITW, With great power comes great responsibility, Napoleon is a better general than Wellington). I then get in over my head and tend to bug out, kind of a guerrilla poster. I really do not mean to cause such a commotion but I do enjoy the discussions.
