Want to buy a Solo Dress-I just found out my daughter can wear a Solo dress and it was suggested that I go to COL they want a $350 deposit and then a another deposit of $600 is that standered with all dress makers to pay almost a $1000 up before receiving your dress? -- Need Answers, 08:17:46 01/23/02 Wed

I bought a dress from COL and it looked nice but the workmanship was awful and it wasn't worth the price I paid for it . (NT) -- Very Disappointed, 10:51:28 01/24/02 Thu
We have had 5 dresses from Colours of Ireland, and every one has been of superior quality. I find it interesting that the person on all the messageboards who has some kind of grudge against Colours of Ireland consistently refers to the company as COL. I'm not sure what the L is supposed to stand for, but whoever it is always makes the same error. (NT) -- a mom, 17:05:49 01/24/02 Thu

It is up to you if you want to work with people who are ethical or not but I found in my experience they were not upfront on the date I would receive the dress and they were certainly were way off on the price they quoated me by $200 more. I find if they know the customer they make the dress on time but if they don't know you your just put on the back burner with phone calls not returned or e-mails. There alot of new dress makers out there look around (NT) -- Becareful, 06:08:12 01/28/02 Mon

I'm the mom who asked for some input a few weeks back. Just thought I'd update you guys on what we decided to do. My dd didn't compete, but we had a great time with our dancing friends in Boston anyway. Now she's ready to get back into dancing and prepare for the Oireachtas. Hope all of you had a great Nationals & met your personal goals. -- Unsure Mom, 15:39:17 07/09/02 Tue

I DON'T want to bully her. I guess I'm just oversensitive to those who think I should including my mother, who thinks I'm wasting money (my husband has no problem with it). We're going and enjoying Boston! She's been looking forward to it since Toronto. I think the best way to keep her focused on getting back up to speed is to let her stay as involved with dancing and her friends as she wants. Further dilemma post: hi there - just letting you know I have not made any further decisions on whether to continue with teaching assistance/TCRG focus at present - dancing class on holidays so am enjoying my time away from things for a while - and the weather! - I'm still not entirely happy with the way things are happening in the dancing class. I just thought I would say thanks again for the kind words from other posters and I will keep you posted on what happens! -- tippy toes, 21:17:32 04/10/02 Wed

It's a dilemma, isn't it? We have been in your position, and I have to tell you that you are walking a really fine line here. Have you ever noticed the drop-out rate from Irish dance among teenagers? -- a mom, 06:17:31 04/03/02 Wed
I live in the country and I put a lot of driving in to get her to classes every week. She's very active in Girl Scouts and Life Teen, but dance is her #1 priority (besides being in Honors classes - Jr in HS). So, I commute to the city 4 times a week - around 45 to 55 miles 1 way depending on where the classes are.. She's in Prelims & taking her to classes is a joy.. She plans on being a doctor specializing either in Sports or Orthopedics PLUS being an Irish Dance teacher.. (NT) -- xxxx, 23:02:04 04/11/02 Thu

For looser curls, use more hair in the spikes and less spikes. For tightest ringlets, use small amounts of hair and LOTS of spikes. -- This is from memory-we wig it now., 10:31:11 01/22/02 Tue
I agree, more hair in each curl. Also, not so much gel or light mousse only if her hair holds curls well. It will fall during the first 2 hours--believe me. -- mom, 11:33:56 01/22/02 Tue
