Sara, I did not say that I put myself or this hypothetical breeder put her/his self above anyone, as in - (to place myself higher than ANYONE else in ANY field would be un-realistic and vain). The concept that all things, all abilities, all talents, all efforts are equal is truly unrealistic. If that were the case we would all have Olympic gold medals, and of course we do not, we would all possess champion somewhere in our title and of course we do not. We were not all born with equal talent and abilities, we all do not all put forth an equal amount of effort in order to reach our chosen goals. Now if I said 'I' placed myself above others, that would be vanity. If others placed me above others that would be being recognized for the hard work and efforts that was required for others to think that. The gold medal or the title champion is not given to one's self. The gold medal, the title champion is earned and then bestowed on us by others. The prospective buyer placed this person in a similar position and the prospective buyer said, 'I want what you have to offer and I'm willing to take these extra steps to have what it is you offer.' What this prospective buyer is doing is recognizing and in essence rewarding us for the hard work and effort we exerted in order to be held in the light that indirectly says,' I want what you offer above all others.'
Bad things happen to good people, but for the most part people are where they are because of the life choices they have made. As I said, I accept that bad things happen to good people, but I am a believer in the idea that if I work hard, if I am honest with people I will realize (hopefully) the deserved rewards that should accompany hard work and honesty. You can fool people for a while, but to be recognized, 'continually', as a cut above is because you worked hard, you treated people fairly, you were honest and open in your relationships and how you do business, (both on a personal basis and a business basis).
I'm not taking up for the con artist, I'm certainly not taking up for the puppy millers, but you 'seem', and I say seem because I could certainly could be misinterpreting what you're saying, but you seem bent on somehow villianizing someone for being so successful at what they do that people want what they offer more than more than they want what other's have to offer. As far as pointing prospective buyers to other people who have puppies available, I do that, on the other hand, if they should say to me, 'Jerry, I appreciate you're telling me of these other litters, but I would prefer to place a deposit with you and wait for a puppy you may have in the future,' I'm not going to say no to them, I'm not going to say, no you should go buy one of the puppies that someone else has on the ground.' I'm going to say, 'thank you, I appreciate your confidence in me and my dogs, I hope you still feel this way well after you've gotten your puppy.' That's pretty much how I work and that's how I'm going to continue to work. With all due respect, Jerry.
