Some girls make the mistake of trying to go up on toe in soft shoes when they're not made for that ... do you? Do your soft shoes have padding - especially in the toe/ball of foot area? Does your big toe hurt any other time (like when you're in street shoes)? If so, it could be the start of a bunion or something. I'll check back later if you answer and maybe can help more.
