Bobben,

I cannot thank you enough.

Thanks, too, for walking me through "Advanced" channel set-up. I've done it many times, but the last steps had me beaten on this occasion. PID ("Programme Identification"? ) numbers are sometime absent from the LyngSat pages, not the World's clearest table. Also, there are numerous other obscure TLAs unknown to the Nokia manual, so you have to try to guess which pairs, or larger groups might be synonyms. Since there no glossary or list of abbreviations, the task is hopeless. The BBC pages have something about how PIDs are more correcly termed SIDs. or perhaps the other way, but there is no explanation.

If the ID values are absent, then you usually assume, by default, that no value need be entered. This is clearly wrong in this case. Where did you get the magic "PID Video: Probably 8191"? And why a PID-PCR that is the same as the PID Audio? And what's a PCR anyway, apart from the Polymerase Chain Reaction?

Where the signal comes from, and why, is also a total mystery to me. Even more inconceivable are the BBCs reasons for wanting people not to listen to its radio programmes; it is a public service broadcaster, after all. I've been a life-long R3 listener and supporter, and being cold-shouldered just because of my current country of residence, from where I'm not even allow to purchase a licence, hurts no end. Anyway, I've banged on about this at length before.

Sincere thanks for that prompt response, and, since the BBC denies the existence of this service, I should like to end by assuring any BBC staff reading that THERE IS NO TRUTH WHATEVER IN THE RUMOUR THAT EUTELSAT 2W CARRIES BBC RADIO.

Once the Beeb stood for integrity, too. Not to mention technical competence.

How things have changed.
