I read the book Izzy, willy-nilly by Cynthia Voigt. It is about a girl named Izzy. She is 15 years old and a cheerleader. She also has 3 best friends. One day a senior boy asked her out to a party. She said yes and went to the party. She saw the person that asked her out was drunk and couldn’t drive her home. This other guy offered to drive her home, but the dude who brought her insisted to drive her. When they were driving home and suddenly she was in the hospital. Her mother told her that she got in a car accident and she broke both legs. The doctor came in and told her that one leg would have to be amputated. After the surgery, she woke up and looked down at her leg. One day her friends came to see her. They didn’t know what to say as if they were scared of her. Then one day a girl came to see her. Her name was Rosamunde and she was very special. They became best friends. Will Izzy ever be able to walk again and will her life ever get back to normal? You have to read the book to find out. I would rate this book ***/*****. This book is 327 pages long. I would defiantly read this book.

Because of Win-Dixie is about a girl named Opal. She lives in a trailer park with her dad. One day Opal went to the pet store. When she went in, there was a dog running around. Opal had fallin in love with the dog. She had just loved it. So then she went back to her trailer and asked her dad if she could get the dog. Her dad had said yes, as long as Opal had taken good care of it. So a few days later she went back and got the dog. Opal has so much fun with the dog she bathes it and everything. She even wants to take to church with her. Across the way from Opal house there is a lady who lives in a house. Two boys in the neighborhood say that she is a witch. Opal believes that it isn't true. At the end of the book there is a little party at the ladies house. So Opal goes, she brings Win-Dixie. The night that she goes it is pouring rain, Win-Dixie gets lost and she is no where to be seen. So Opal is so scared. Does Opal find her?, read the book and find out. This book is 182 pages long and is by Kate DiCamillo. I would rate this book **** stars.

I read Stuck In Neutral by Terry Trueman. This book is told in prespective of a fourteen year old boy who has ceberal palsy. Which mean that when he was born his brain got damaged so now he cant talk or control any part of his body. His name is Shawn. When Shawn was about four years old, his father left because he couldnt stand all of Shawns seizures, he has at least five seizures a day. His father is a writer who has received a few awards, mainly from his book, "Shawn", which is actually about his son. Nobody seems to understand Shawn and think that he doesnt understand anything. Only, Shawn can understand everything that anybody says, he also has this amazing gift of remembers every thing that any one has ever said. Shawn lives with his sister Cyndy, brother Paul and his mother. Occasionally, his father will stop by but Shawn thinks that his father is trying to kill him because he left them because of Shawn and he just cant take anything that Shawn does and doesnt understand Shawn at all. He also is always talks to people about ending his Pain. When Paul and Cindy get called down stairs to speek with their mom about their father's new project about Earl Detraux, a man accused of murdering his disabled son, Shawn's family starts to get worried about what he'll do to Shawn, just like Shawn did but now nobady knows for sure what will happen. Will Shawn get killed or will everything be fine and what they thought was going to happen way off?

I really liked this book because I think I learned alot because I used to think of those kids who can't do anything to be useless and stupid but now I learned that sometimes they are smart but just can't speak or control their reactions to any one. 115 pages 3 stars.

For my 2nd book chat, I read Eragon. This book is about a boy named Eragon. Eragon is a 17 year-old boy who hunts for his family. One time when Eragon was out hunting, he found a blue stone about the size of a football in the forest. That night, it hatched and brought a dragon baby. Eragon learns to love the dragon hatchling, and raises it until he can ride it. After a while, 2 mysterious dark hooded figures come to Eragon's town. A day after that, Eragon comes home and finds his home burned down and his uncle (his guardian) dead. Brom, a town storyteller (who has already found out about Eragon's dragon, Saphira), immediatly takes Eragon away from their town. Eragon later finds out that Brom used to work for the Varden, who are an Empire resistance group. The Empire at that time were evil. Along the way, the trio (Saphira, Eragon's dragon, Eragon, and Brom), encounter the Ra'zac, the figures that burned Eragon's house, and luckily were able to flee. But one time, the Ra'zac threw a dagger at Eragon but Brom dove in front of him and was stabbed in the ribs. That night they met Murtaugh, a stranger who doesn't like the Ra'zac either. He decides to accompany them in joining the Varden and defeating the Empire. Eragon once got captured by the Empire, but then he escaped and was able to free and elf, Arya. It turns out, she has been poisoned by the Empire, and needs the antidote before she dies. But the only place where you can find the antidote is the Varden. But Eragon doesn't know how to get there. So will Eragon be able to save Arya, get to the Varden, and defeat the Empire before the Empire can kill Arya, stop Eragon, defeat the Varden, and kill Eragon. Read the book to find out!
*730 pages* ***** out of ***** One of the best books I have ever read!

The book I read is Prince Caspian by C. S. Lewis and it’s one of the books in the Narnia series. In this book, the 2 sons of Adam and the 2 daughters of Eve return to Narnia. At first Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy are going to school but suddenly they were sucked into Narnia by magic. They reappeared on an island. They started looking for a source of water once they arrived and they found a river. When they walked upstream in the overgrown forest, they found an abandoned castle, but around the castle were apple trees. After they slept, Lucy thought that the castle looked like the castle they used to live in when they used to be kings and queens, and she knew that the wall behind them would have a door leading to the treasuries. So Edmund took a stick and started hitting the wall and listening for the hollow spots. Then he hit one. After 30 minutes time of work past by pulling down all the ivy, they saw a door with a very rusted lock. After hitting the lock off, they found all of their old belongings! This story now flips to Prince Caspian. At this point, Prince Caspian has an evil uncle who is king, King Maxis [his uncle] wants to kill Caspian so Caspian runs away. He meets talking animals, dwarfs, Fauns, and other mystic creatures. This book ends up with a battle of good versus evil. On a rating from one to 5 I give it a 4 . This book is 238 pages.

The book I chose for my book chat is Big Fish. It has 174 pages and the author of the book is Daniel Wallace. This book is about a man who is dieing, while he is dieing his son is telling the story of his life. The name of the man that is dieing is Edward Bloom. He does many amazing things in his life time. He tamed giants and saved many peoples lives. He told a lot of jokes, and his son thought that he told too many. He even told them in his death bed. His son believed him to be immortal. He once bought a town inch by inch and it wasn’t for business it was just because he loved the town and the people in it. He also fell in love with a woman in that town. They moved into a white house with a very nice lawn and a pretty garden. But he was away so much that she got so sad that she didn’t have time to take care of the yard anymore. It turned into a swamp and many animals moved into it. He couldn’t get to her so he couldn’t make her happy. She was stuck. At the end of the book his son is talking to him, and the father tells him he wants to get out of the house. He takes him to a river, then his father told him to look away, he jumped into the river and turned into a big fish.

Later on they met up with what looked like just a squirrel little did they know that this squirrel will determine a lot of things in their lives. Then as they were talking to the squirrel about Delilah’s intelligence they found that this was no ordinary squirrel it was a squirrel from Asteroid 6. A few moments later the squirrel said actions speak more than words. Suddenly the squirrel from Asteroid 6 and Delilah switched bodies by a strike of a blue light. Howie so confused realized that this was soon going to happen to everyone so when Toby found him some time later he showed him since he was a dog not to get anyone or anything to close because then Howie will have no one to help him. After their little chat a big ship appeared which looked to be like a mother ship then the doors opened and a whole bunch of weird creatures stepped out that were from Asteroid 6 stepped out so I acted quickly! I read the book It Came from Beneath the Bed from the series Tales From The House Of BUNNICULA! It came from Beneath the bed is about a talented and lovable not to mention smart wirehaired dachshund puppy, named Howie who’s owner’s are The Monroe’s. Howie’s owner Pete has the nastiest, scariest, and weirdest items under his bed. Chester the cat is one of the smartest cats in this book he knows all the answers and sometimes can be mean to Howie because he thinks that some of the thing Howie does have know reason to do them. In the beginning Howie is trying to convince himself of going under the scary bed when the moon is full because that’s when the people or puppies go into scary places in books. He tried to find someone to go under the bed with him but no one would accept except Delilah (who is beautiful but not that smart). When Pete went to sleep Howie and Delilah went into under his bed when the moon was full. Delilah was so scared she kept asking: What’s that? What’s that? What was supposed to be a science experiment turned out to be a humongous fury bear! Howie must stop this animal or all of his friends and family might be in danger!******fantastic book- 90 pages

For my book chat, I¡¯ve read The Clique by Lisi Harrison. This book is about a girl named Claire Lyons who just moved into Massie Block¡¯s guest house. Massie is the most popular girl at Octavian Country Day School, an exclusive private¡¯s girls¡¯ school. At this school, the only thing you probably ever wanted to be was to be in Massie¡¯s clique. In her clique, she has her closest friends, Dylan Marvil, Alicia Rivera, and Kristen Gregory. Claire is getting used to the ways of the school, because back at her old school in Florida, no one cared as much about popularity, and she misses her old school dearly. Claire was never ¡°clique material¡±. Massie makes fun of her clothing especially, so Claire didn¡¯t give Massie a very good first impression. Soon, the girls become rivals, and Claire has not made friends yet. Massie¡¯s clique does many things to make Claire¡¯s life miserable. Claire soon finds a friend, and she¡¯s very happy, but sometimes she just wishes to be in Massie¡¯s clique. Claire thinks of a way to get Massie¡¯s friends on her side¡ and it works, but for how long? Will this plan help her get in the clique? Or will it backfire like how everything else has?

This book is in a series. So, the ending is not quite complete. You may have to read more of the series to find out what happens afterwards.

For my book I read Aquamarine. I read this because it is one of my most viewed movies. Aquamarine is by Alice Hoffman and it is 150 pages long and it is a very easy read. Aquamarine is a great book about friendship and love. Aquamarine is about two girls, Hailey and Claire, who are best friends. They have been inseparable their whole life but now Claire has to move away with her grandparents. This was heart-breaking to both girls so they wanted to make this summer, at the Capri Beach Club, the best. One day when they are by the pool they see a mysterious creature swimming in the murky pool. When they go up closer they realize that it is a mermaid named Aquamarine. Aquamarine talks to the girls and tells them how she likes the food counter boy, Raymond. The girls decide to hook them up and set them up on a date. They take Aquamarine out of the water and wrap her up. She had a very successful date with Raymond but she was dying. She was turning to dust from being out of the water. Her hair was turning gray, her face blue. Right before she turned to dust, the girls placed her in the water. Aquamarine was an okay book but nowhere near as good as the movie. It was nothing like it. I think it was ** so I don’t recommend it.

Anne of Green Gables is a book by Lucy Maud Montgomery and it is pages 103 long. Anne of Green Gables is about a redheaded girl with freckles named Anne. She is an orphan and has been one for a very long time! She has been to many different places, but no one seems to want her. One day the orphanage gets a call from Marilla and Mathew Cuthbert saying that they want a boy to help around the house. Well when Matthew comes to pick up the boy it’s Anne. Every time Anne gets sent away she usually comes back but she thought this was the one. Matthew was surprised when he saw Anne but Marilla was even more surprised. She led Anne up to the bedroom and told her that the next morning they would send her back. Anne was terribly upset because she wanted to stay in Green Gables. Anne somehow lured Marilla into thinking about sending her back. Marilla doesn’t send her back but she said that if Anne is not good then back to the orphanage with her. Days go by and Anne meets a new friend Diana. Anne and Diana become best friends because Diana didn’t care what Anne looked like. In school Anne is competing with Gilbert Blithe to be the best student. Meanwhile at home, Anne has been very rude to Rachel Lynde so she was punished. One day Diana invites to a picnic and Anne has ice cream. Anne was just ecstatic so she invited Diana over for some raspberry drink but by mistake Anne gave Diana wine and got her drunk. Diana’s mom got very mad at Anne and did not allow Diana to play with Anne anymore. That rule wore off because Anne saved Diana’s little sister. Eventually everything started to settle down and Anne became very old but still friends with Diana. Anne became a very good girl and was definitely part of the Cuthbert family. I read this book because of the play that the middle school put it on. I would rate this book ***.

A fair to remember is one of the Camp Confidential books and to tell you the truth it is a bit cheesy but is still pretty good. The book is about Jenna Bloom who is throwing a week-end reunion for her camp bunk-mates at her lake house. Everything is fine until her brother invites a boy, David, she used to like and is now going out with Jenna's best friend, Sarah, who couldn't come. When everyone arrives they go to the 1st day of a 3 day fair that the lake town is throwing for Memorial day. It sounds pretty fun until a sports competition is one of the evenst she wanted to do. When her friend is paired with Jenna's brother fro the competition, Jenna is forced to be with David. Everyone can see Jenna still likes David but she would never tell because she would never want to hurt Sarah. The day comes when David admits to liking Jenna and Jenna is forced to admit the same about David. Meanwhile, Jenna's guests are planning to do a dance routine for the fair talent show. While Jenna is trying to both practice the dance and avoid David. Only the dance part works out. What happens when Sarah is told about Jenna and David? I won't tell what does. This book was O.K. and is 141 pages. I would give this book **.

Over April vacation I read Holes by Louis Sachar. Holes is about a falsely accused boy named Stanley Yelnats. Stanley was accused of stealing from a homeless shelter in Texas, even though someone just dropped the shoes on him when the police came. Stanley's family has an old family curse made by his great-great grandfather who displeased a fortune teller. The whole family knows the curse is bogus, but sometimes blame it for there state of living. Stanley's father is forever trying to find a cure to stinky feet and they don't have a lot of money. When Stanley is sent to court he has a choice to go to jail or a Juvenile camp which is supposed to "steer kids straight". When Stanley arrives to camp he knows it does anything but. The method of the camp to punish the boys for their crimes, is to make every boy dig a 6 ft. by 6ft. hole. The warden of the camp is crazy and so are her assistants. From listening to stories from his family, Stanley is able to figure out the camp warden's obsession with Kissin' Kate Barlow, a historical outlaw that is said to have burried her treasure in the camp. The warden has been trying to find the treasure ever since she was a little girl. When Stanley's best friend at camp runs away Stanley follows him and together they figure out where the treasure is. I won't tell the rest, but this book is awesome and the way it unfolds is really cool. I would give this book *****
and 256 pages long.

The second book I read for my book chat is called On the Mound with Curt Schilling. The author of this book is Matt Christopher. This book is 106 pages long. Curt Schilling was born in Alaska but moved to Phoenix, Arizona. He was a third baseman at the Shadow Mountain High School. He then went to Yavapai Junior College in Prescott, Arizona where he lead his team to the JUCO World Series. Schilling was drafted by the Red Sox in 1985 but was traded to the Orioles in 1988. At the begining of his career not many teams wanted to have Curt Schilling because of his laziness and bad attitude. One day when he was in the weight room he met Roger Clemens who saw him not working hard and told him to Behave like a real baseball player. After that Curt was able to get himself together and was a Cy young pitcher and a 2 has won 2 world series. He won them with the Red Sox and Diamond Backs. He is married and has three kids. To me this book was a 5 because Curt is one of my favorite pitchers and i love biographies. Ned Linehan 6-13-07

He went to see the car and found bullet holes in the windsheild and blood stains on the seats. He later learned his uncle was a member of the MI6 a secret group of spies like the CIA. He later was told to finish his uncles mission which was to investigate this new type of computer called the Stormbreakers that was going to be a gift to all the British schools. Alex was not wanted at the training camp and it was even worse when he got to the scene. He was almost killed by men on ATV's with spikes and knives. Then he had to go through this old mine submerged in water. He later found that they were hiding a chemical bomb in the computers. He had to stop the computers. This book is 276 pgs.**********

For my second book chat this term, I read Vote Blond from the Elle Woods series by Natalie Standiford. Here is a summary of the book.
Every year at Beverly Hill High School, a competitive boy named Merlin is always elected for president. This year, Merlin has decided that he will cancel all dances! Elle thinks no one will vote for him because who doesn’t like dances? But Merlin is now convincing the school that dances are boring, and a waste of time! The only thing Elle can do to save the school dances is to run for president! But, how will she do this? Merlin has been president every year, and has done well, and now everyone agrees that dances are boring. Maybe with the help of her cheerleading squad! There is a problem though; somebody is stealing Elle’s strategies! Who is it? The talking ghost in the haunted house, or maybe even a cheerleader!
If you want to know what happens, read the fabulous book! I really liked the book because it showed that if you are determined, you can achieve what you want. I rate this book ****(4 stars) because it was a little boring sometimes. The book is 223 pages long and I would definitely recommend it!

For my first book chat I read "7 Days at the Hot Corner" by Terry Trueman. This book is about mid-life crisis and baseball. The main character is Scott Latimer, a high school baseball jock. He plays third base (the hot corner). Scott's best friend Travis doew not like baseball and is not very athletic. One time when Scott and Travis went to the batting cages, Travis had a huge swing but he missed the ball and the bat swung around and hit him in the mouth. Scott went to help him. By the time he was done, he had Travis's blood all over him. Scott didn't think about it much until the next season, spring, the baseball season when he learned a secret about Travis that might end his baseball career for ever, and possibly kill him. So, Scott decides to go get tested for HIV. This book is all about those 7 days as he waits for the news to come in. During those 7 days, his undefeated baseball team was going through the playoffs. In the end.... Just kidding! You have to read the book to find out what happens in the end of the book. If you like sports and realistic-fiction books, this is the book for you. **** out of ***** because it can get a little inappropriate at times. ><150 pages>< 6/6/07

The Outcast of Redwall is one of the Redwall series by Brian Jaques. Its about two companions Bryony the mouse and Togget the mole set out to try and change the ways of a small six-clawed ferret named Veil, who Bryony had raised from a baby. Altough Veil was brought up among peaceful creatures he had always disobeyed the rules of the Abbey. He was declared an Oucast after he tried to poison the Abbey Friar but instead he almost killed one of the Abbey Sisters. At a cave near a waterfall Veil trapped Bryony and Togget inside the cave and left them no matter how much they pleaded. When he turned around he met Swartt Sixclaw the Warlord who had seen everything and when he looked at Swartt's paw he saw six claws and was reunited with his long lost father. When Sunfalash the Mace a badger ruler from the mountain fortress Salamandaston arrives at the scene he starts to go red in the eyes with Bloodwrath, a nasty curse that haunts all badger rulers and makes them unstoppable in battle. Swartt hurries up a mountain nearby to get away from the badger who he had beaten and called names as a young ferret. At the top of the mountain Swartt has only a few hours until the badger finds him. Sunflash eventually finds Swartt but he must squeeze through a small hole. Driven on by detirmination Sunflash attemts to go through the hole enven though it is too small for a badger of his size. At the entrance Swartt was talking to Veil who was across the large rocky ledge, when suddenly Sunflash bursts half through the hole and out of instinct Swartt grabs a large chunk of shale and hits Sunflash on the back of the head with it. Sunflash then fell unconcious. At the bottom of the mountain Sunflash''s trrusty hares free Bryony and Togget form the cave. Bryony then eventually finds her way to Sunflash and wakes him up with a little water. She is caught by Veil who heard Sunflash grunt when he woke up and he slapped her. Then Sunflash snappes the ropes that were binding him like twigs. All the vermin scream and quiver, then most of them kill themselves by throwing themselves off the mountain, which was at least a 200 foot drop. Then Swartt fights Sunflash to the death. First he fired an arrow at Sunflash which missed and headed for Bryony, except at the last second Veil flung himself in-front of her and the arrow thudded into his chest. Bryony then knew that that Veil hadn't wanted to show his true feelings and had instead let them out with anger. Sunflash then was being attacked by Swartt swinging his sword with all his might. Swartt then knew his life was over when Sunflash grabbed his sword and snapped it in half. Sunlash threw the pieces of the sword off the mountain and hit swart so hard that he came off the ground, he was dead before he hit the ground. Then Sunflash took Swartt's limp body and flung him high and awy frm the mountain. When Swartt hit the ground he made a l crater the size of a car. Sunflash and his hares then went with Bryony and Togget to Redwall. While Sunflash was talking with Bella the ancient badger of Redwall he discovered that she was his mother. So mother and son were united after Bella had suffered for countless years wondering where in the world was her son. Later Sunflash became a farmer and changed his name to Sunstripe.

This therm, I read the book Kira-Kira by Cynthia kadohata. In my opinion, this book was amazing but also really sad.

First of all, Kira Kira means glittering in Japanese. In this book, there is a five year old Japanese girl named Katie living in a mostly japanese town in Iowa. She lives with her sister Lynne and her mother and her father. One of the most amazing thing is Lynne and Katie are best friends and best sisters, they share every thing with eachother. When Katie's parents' market went out of bisiness they had no job so instead of them telling the girls that they would be moving to Chesterfeild Georgia, Lynne got the news from her parents and she had to tell Katie that things would be a little different in Georgia, not many people would be japanese and people might act strange around them and look at them oddly. Katie's father's brother would come to pick them up in Iowa and drive them to Georgia where they would live in a tiny apartment. Once they got to Chesterfield, the two girls started their first year of school. But after one year had gone by, still Lynne remained Katies best friend and only friend. Just shortly after the new school year started, Lynne got really ill, a doctor came by but was not sure what her illness was. While the time that Lynne was sick, Katie was doing every thing that Lynne would ask her to do no matter what. This sickness went on and off through out the year. Finally, when Lynne was getting much better, she quickly got very, very ill, worst than she had ever before. Katie and Lynne's parents got very worried, so they bought Lynne a house (even though every body in their family would live in it) as they promised the girls ever since they were little. After years of working 20 hours a day, Katies parents used almost all of their money buying this house to hope cure Lynne and give her a litle more happiness. Will this idea work? Will Lynne eer get better?

I have just finished reading the second book in The Clique series called Best Friends for Never. The author is Lisi Harrison. Here is a summary about the book.
A girl named Claire and her family are staying at another girl’s house named Massie. Massie hates Claire, mostly because of her clothes and friends, and Claire’s younger brother who loves her. One night at dinner, Massie gets a phone call that another girl at her school, Octavian Country Day, is throwing a Halloween party. Massie decides that she should be the one having the party so she and Claire make a plan. Claire is longing for a cell phone and Massie wants a party. So if Massie tells her parents and Claire’s that Claire can be the co-host of the party, Claire’s parents will think that Massie and Claire are friends and give her a cell phone. One problem, their parents are making them invite the whole seventh grade! Another problem is, Claire wants to be friends with Massie because she’s popular. The whole time the girls are planning the party, Massie is bossing Claire around. One day, Massie calls up her friends (excluding Claire) and tells them to wear their Halloween costumes they were supposed to wear to the party that night to school. When the girls arrive at school, they get in big trouble when they find out the costumes are against the school’s dress code! Unfortunately, the principle announces that because of the girls actions, the school has to have a school uniform! After the party, Massie comes up with a great idea to have a fashion contest, where whoever wants to can make an outfit, the school votes, and that will be the new uniform! The contest causes trouble, but to find out how, you’ll have to read the book! I loved this book and I would rate it ***** (5 star). It is 197 pages long. I would definitely recommend this book!

The book I chose for this book chat is Mars Diaries Mission 5 Sole Survivor. it has 107 pages and the auther is Sigmund Brouwer. This book is about a boy named Tyce. He can control a robot because of a metal antenna in his spine. But he pays a price, he can’t walk. He is also the only person ever born on mars. This was possible by creating a dome on the surface of the planet. The purpose of the dome is to make mars habitable because the earth is getting over populated. In this book at the very beginning four scientists get stuck in a cave in and Tyce has to save them. They have enough oxygen left for a couple hours. But then the control room Tyce’s real body is in (not the robot body that’s out side) gets taken over by Dr. Jordan an evil scientist. He kidnaps Tyce’s father and mother. Tyce exits the robot body and pretends to be asleep. They take him to a holding cell and threaten to kill him if he doesn’t give them what they want. They say that they will execute a scientist every half an hour until he gives it to them. There’s just one problem, he doesn’t know what they want and they won’t tell him. You’ll have to read the book to find out what happens next. I would rate this book *** out of *****
