Yes, and this is my second try at repair/exchanging. The customer service rep today told me that it is a problem with the USB chip in the Palm; in cold, dry climates (like NJ) electrostatic discharge causes the chip to turn itself off. She recommended I purchase a serial cable, which bypasses the USB chip. For the money I paid, Palm should have included this cable.
