Possibly interesting story on the teaming of O'Brien and Garry:

They did a test run for a week in the fall of 1974. Larry was doing mornings solo, and John was doing afternoons. During the test week, John would invent some ruse that had him stopping by the station in the morning, then they would work together.

They had been after Ted Atkins (Cap'n Show Biz) to let them team up, but he had resisted. No doubt part of that was not wanting to bruise the budget by hiring a new person to replace John on the afternoon shift. He finally relented, and within a year they were getting some nice numbers.

For a year or so, they continued to do solo shows on Saturdays. Then finally they teamed on Saturdays as well.
