I'm not even sure why I remember this, but in the 1950s KDKA-TV didn't clear "Love of Life" or "As the World Turns." I think the former aired at noon, which would have conflicted with noon news. Fans had to watch them on WSTV-TV.

In the 1960s WTAE-TV was notorious for not clearing a lot of network programming in favor of stuff they could sell themselves, including the second season of "Shindig" — again to Channel 9's benefit after it became a dual CBS-ABC affiliate.
