My first car was a 1971 Pontiac Ventura that came equipped with an AM radio only. One of the first things I did after I bought it was head over to the old Kmart in the Crafton-Ingram Shopping Center and buy an FM converter. It was Kmart's house brand. Only place I could put the bracket was just under the ashtray, which meant that it was strategically located to kneecap me whenever I went for the gas pedal. I remember your AM radio had to be set at 1400. A buddy of mine put his on a long cord and never did mount it. People would pass it back and forth inside the car and fight over the station.
