Subject: Your first car FM radio or FM converter

For those of you who, like me, made the switch over to FM in the late 60's/early 70's, what was your first in-car FM radio? Did you luck out and get a car with an FM radio installed? Did you get an FM converter? Did you swap out the stock radio for an AM/FM replacement from Radio Shack or a similar store?

My first car was a used van with no radio at all. I found an AM/FM radio at Sears that came in a slide-out bracket kit. You could mount the bracket in the car and play the radio in the bracket where it was powered by the car's battery and connected to an external antenna, or you could slide it out and play it on battery power. It was mono, not stereo, but it picked up 'DVE, WYDD, and all the other great FM stations that weren't playing tight little playlists.
