I totally agree with you that better talent would mean better program content. You are 100% correct about that. But, I don't know that there is all that much more revenue to be made through AM radio advertising. Better content would make a real big difference, but better content would also be more expensive. Is there enough potential revenue out there that higher expenses for better content could be translated to higher profits? I do not know the answer to that. I could be wrong, but I suspect that the potentials for more income are so low that the only place to increase profit is to decrease costs.

I'm not in a position to buy any sort of advertising for any business. But if I were, I don't think I'd buy AM radio spots even if the AM radio audience tripled.
