I don't want to rain on the parades of the folks who remember the music of the 1950's. I just finished watching the series "Sun Records", and really enjoyed it. I have a lot of 50's and pre-Beatled 60's oldies on my MP3 player. But as much as I like that music, I'm not surprised it's almost impossible to find on the radio.

I also like Glenn Miller, the Dorsey Brothers, Cab Calloway, and the "even older oldies" than the "Old oldies", and they've been gone even longer. Granted, the old Big Band and Swing music was from before my time, but I've heard the recordings and I like the music. My nieces and nephews, who are the right demo target age for radio advertisers, were major fans of the swing revival a while ago.

I wish there was a lot more music variety on all terrestrial radio, especially vintage music. And I mean ALL vintage radio programming. Porky Chedwick and the other rock era pioneers are great, but so are even older nostalgia shows like "Imaginary Ballroom". This is our cultural heritage. It shouldn't be thrown aside.
