I think Yate's character was just "Mr. Winkle". Hank Stohl had a hosted cartoon show on KDKA that competed against Adventure Time on WTAE and Cap'n Jim's Popeye Club on WIIC. Stohl's show featured Knish and Rodney. You're right about what Knish was. Stohl's real name was Zakowski, so his puppet was named after an ethnic Polish food, the knish. Rodney's full name was Rodney J. Hackenflash. There was also Connie The Dog.

Stohl started on WTAE, but ended up on KDKA.

WQED did a lot of local production. That's why I left them out of my launch post. The local shows on WQED are enough to warrant a whole separate thread of their own.
