Brian, and others--

I would encourage any and all to call the authorities on suspicious behavior at Irwin or elsewhere.

In regard to Irwin specifically, I think that it has a reputation of "weird" things going on there. While I do not know, I suspect it is a hangout, or pick-up place for single men whose preferences may not be the same as our own.

Generally speaking, I do not think Irwin is a dangerous place for birders (not any more dangerous than the metroparks, anyway). I think that most of the suspicious characters you may run into would avoid us birders like the plague if at all possible. I think confrontation (or any sort of encounter whatsoever) with others is something they would tend to avoid.

That said, your concern is a valid one, and it would be great if law enforcement could "clean it up" there. You and your daughter should be able to enjoy that great area without feeling uncomfortable.

I know that myself and others on this board have experienced similar situations there, and it is an unfortunate reality.

Any other comments are welcome, as I do think this is a valid topic for this board.

Greg
