Subject: Maumee Bay, Person Metropark Questions

First of all, I read about the American Pipits at Pearson MetroPark. I live in Cincinnati, so the paper is about a week old when I get it. But it said a few american pipits were being seen with horned larks north of pearson. Are they still around? Any specific fields (landmarks in the fields to look for)? One more question. Often times when I have birded Maumee Bay I have had a problem scoping the lake because of high winds. Do I just have to get lucky and show up when it is calm? Or are there any good points that both provide shelter from the wind and also offer good looks at the lake?
Thanks
Sam
