I am a local birder, but I was unaware of pipits near Pearson, and so don't know if they're still around - I would comment that a description of 'north of Pearson' seems fairly precise, i.e. would not be an unmanageable area of fields to cover in a brief visit. Regarding scoping at Maumee Bay Park, I am unaware of any good cover if it is windy - sometimes I have sat down on some of the lower of those 'large steps' east of the beach, to get some shelter from winds that aren't from the north. Good luck if you visit.
