SM had a huge home crowd, to be expected, but college baseball is very popular in the south. In any event, very impressive win in which the humidity seemed to have an impact. Brett went to the bullpen at the first sign that Edwards might have started to tire out in the bottom on the 4th. Interesting choice in going with Edwards and holding back Santana and Sheets.

Two more Miami homers have the Hurricanes up by a dozen. Columbia's been held down by Miami junior starter and Florida native, Griffin Hugus. He's thrown 113 pitches through eight innings; walked only one Columbia batter and permitted just three extra base hits. With the Lions down to their final three outs, it'll be interesting to see if the Miami coaches allow Hugus to attempt a complete game performance.
