I'm back. Don't know for how long, but my first priority is to look at your pics, TK! Wooooooooo!
Okay ... I want to eat that little one up with a spoon. ADORABLE! And the way RH smiled at her when she grinned at him? Too precious for words. Sigh.
And RH just rocked Paul. His softening with Meg, and then his growing suspicions? Man ... I could look at his face all day. It's been a misery for me not seeing him as frequently as I SHOULD. Damn the Show. Eight eps in April? Seven in March? What a load of garbage.
I want to add that even though I'm pissed at Meg ... MWIL was extraordinary Monday. I've always thought she was good, but Monday she was on top of every beat ... every nuance. Roger just rocked the house. From his sly amiability with Lucy to his new resolve with Meg, RH's portrayal of Paul was so multifaceted, so on key, so well done that the underlying metaphor of his final scene with Meg just sprang out. Paul and Meg and the "strip scene" was an exact mirroring of what Meg has been doing to Paul. Exact. And don't get me wrong ... regardless of all the bullshit that the writers seem compelled to drown Paul and Meg in ... I still am rooting for Peg. BUT! I had little empathy for Meg because I STILL vividly remember her sending DUSTY with Eliza for Paul's visitation. I still vividly remember all the things she has done to Paul about Eliza. And maybe that is the point that the writers are making. Metaphor. Mirror. Meg stripped Paul "naked" time and time again ... and then rejected him and HIS need to be with his daughter in a normal manner ... all the while understanding and sympathizing with Dusty's pain over Johnny. I'm way past giving the writers any credit anymore ... but I assume that my visceral response to this scene is exactly one of the reactions that they wanted. Tat, this is just how I'm interpretating the story and what we're seeing right now. Paul indeed has been stripped down so many times and left to just go and lick his wounds. Meg's getting a little taste of it and I hope she gets it -- and figures out where she belongs. It's so hard to give these writers credit because they come up with the most obscene ways sometimes, but the picture to me is quite clear as to what's been happening to Paul and why he responds as he does and where his heart is, and it makes me love him and root for him all the more to make it. Hey Lois! Hugs! You know ... I think I have become wearied by a certain plot dynamic that has played over and over in Peg's Story. I firmly believe that I can not be accused of misogny when I recognize a character trait that I do NOT like in women ... fictional or otherwise. Meg giving her "close" friendships with Craig, Mike and now Dusty precedence over Paul telling her that they HURT him, and saying that Paul is irrational and jealous about it time and time again in the face of her actions with those men has just worn out my empathatic response to Meg. Paul didn't ask Meg to strip, that was Meg's interpretation of what she thought Paul wanted....I was happy that Paul said "no". I read all of these other boards and everyone is feeling sorry for Meg losing her baby...she could have given Paul joint custody after seeing how he is with Eliza but she elected to keep all of the power and have her gravy too (Disgusty). I've been frustrated since Oct 06 (the gala ball) with the ATWT writers, but Roger keeps me glued to my tv with his phenomenal portrayal of Paul Ryan. In years past, if I got frustrated with a storyline I just stopped watching the show, but not now. I do not want to miss one scene Roger is in -- he is pure magic onscreen. And yeah, I know he's screwed up countless times, but it's always been because he feels so insecure about her love for him....and she feeds that insecurity all the time, threatening to walk out on an hourly basis! He just seems to be so much more into her than she is into him, and that's what makes me so sad. That being said, if Meg ever finds it in her heart to stop this push/pull thing, and truly accept Paul, flaws and all, I'll be the first one to cheer them on. But now that Dustbin is back in her life, I am really not liking her at all. If Paul's plan to "get Meg back" involves him sleeping around and having a good time, then I say "Woo hoo!" I have missed you gals! Sorry we were not around during the last month, or so, but I had the annual special RHF project going - PLUS the Christmas season and all. (I thought as my grandbabies became teenagers that Christmas for them would be easier....I was WRONG! LOL!) We had our grandchildren a lot this past month, and we enjoyed every second of them.

Went to see "Twilight" TWICE! Hee! LOVE that movie! I just finished the fourth book of the Twilight series, and it was by far the best! BTW - The music playing on the board is "Bella's Lullaby" from the "Twilight" movie.

I assure you I did not miss a minute of our guy, either!!! He is still rockin' the world! WOW! And Meg had his baby! YAY! for Eliza Ryan!

Now, I have a few things that have been ruling my thoughts as I watched the show:

1. Can the nut-job PLEASE shoot the thug that is Dusty?

2. What the hell is Dusty doing?

3. Who does Dusty think he is?

4. Dusty makes me wanna puke!!!!

5. And....(last but not least) Can SOMEBODY please kill Dusty???

Welcome back! Peg has been busy...Paul in the psych ward and Meg giving birth. Baby Eliza is beautiful, isn't she. Indeed ... what is a man?

Well, let's look at James' definition ...

James: I cannot believe that I have a son that's such a coward. Stop whining, paul. Do something. Take some action. For once, act like a man.

Paul: So, if I show any kind of compassion or show any kind of remorse, then I'm a coward in your eyes?

James: The shoe fits.

You know, in the midst of my browser problems with Vista, I could only post on certain boards. I became involved in a lengthy discussion at one of these boards ... and one of my points was:

We all have a "Jungian Shadow Self" ... that Dark Part of ourself that only wants what Self wants. That atavistic, recidivistic return to the animal programming that most of us try to suppress. We try to suppress it because the suppression of it is what makes us Human Beings and NOT animals. Animals are primarily and genetically programmed to survive by pursuing their immediate wants ... food, propagation, territorial control at ANY cost. Even in set Social Structures animals are not idealistic ... there is no awareness of right or wrong in Nature. Animals are driven by genetic programming. And Self is supreme.

When we allow our "Shadow Self" to dominate over Rationality and Compassion, we are little more than animals.

James is an animal.

One of the many reasons I'm so fascinated with Paul is because of his constant struggle to suppress his "Dark Side". And what a struggle it has been. Wheh. Every time he finally manages to understand what he has allowed himself to surrender to and then struggles to move forward ... another set of circumstances tears his world asunder and he has to again struggle with what it is to be Human.

It is not that Paul has not learned from his mistakes ... it is that Paul has to constantly struggle with doing the right thing. Nothing really is really "easy" for him.

Because see ... 5,000 years of recorded History shows us that... Evil is "EASY". And Good? A constant struggle.

Paul as Protagonist is a classic anti-Hero. His tragic flaw is that it is sometimes "easy" for him to fall into Self. His hard won triumph? That he then TRIES to overcome it. Life is a perpetual process for him. As it is for ALL of us.

Yes it does James. Because Paul is a man capable of wearing a shoe. Unlike you, James. Now go on ... trot your little cloven hoofs right out of Oakdale. The sooner the better.

James has more than wore out his "welcome" with me. Grin.
