  WOW - It feels good to be back after the Christmas & New Year holidays!! It felt like we got kicked in the gut though, when we read about Paul and Meg losing son.....However we are looking at the brighter side....I mean after all, how could we get any of those steamy love scenes between Paul and Meg?....And how else could we enjoy the story of them working their way back together?....And how else could we see the tremendous performances we are going to get?....
  

  
  ACTUALLY we really wanted Paul and Meg's baby to LIVE! And we are VERY sad about how this is all foretold to go down. Paul loses yet another child. SAD. (At least this time, it isn't because of a loony NUT-JOB carrying and using his baby as a bargaining tool to keep her @ss outta jail.)
  

  
  So, let's get on with it - Paul and Meg can make our dreams - and theirs - come true, eh?

    To say I'm heartbroken at whAT is going to transpire is an understatement. Like you said ... in a perfect "World". We knew there was going to be an extensive rewrite but this leaves me so very very sad. However ... while the mechanics of it are a kick in the gut ... if the writers acheive their purpose ... it will all be worthwhile. If the death of a baby can ever be worthwhile. Sigh. But as in Life ... that's Life and Death. It's Soap. Life is unfair ... and as above so below. It is so incredibly sad, though.

  Last week's SOD had a *quote* by Roger (in October 1994) that the mag put into an interview they did with him as he was departing OLTL for the first time.
  

  
  Notice the underlined *THE MAG PUT INTO* part - Because a few weeks later, Roger's rebuttal to that particular *quote* was printed in their mail section!!! (Yes, I have the letter.) He told them that they had printed something MISLEADING. He explained that he was still under contract to OLTL and could not work on another soap for at least 1 year.
  

  
  Wonder why the rag used that MISLEADING quote again, and left out the part about Roger writing in to them after his interview was printed to state correctly what he really meant? I mean they printed his letter....! ???

  Well ... looks like things are starting to start up here. A good start would be to have RH's Paul on for more than ten minutes a week. Grin. Yeah ... all I want for Christmas is Paul, Santa baby. Unwrap him already.
  
  Casting News is saying Grayson McCouch is out at the end of his contract in January. Damn. I hate Dusty and I was not keen on how GM played Dusty ... but I will always have a soft spot for GM because of his previous roles. Sniff. AND this means we won't get Dumily. Waaaahhhhh! I was really looking forward to Dumily ... especially since KMH was soooooo keen on it and sooooooo was looking forward to working with GM. She gushed quite a bit about it. Well, there is mention of a recast, so let's see what KMH has to say. re-Dumily might still be a go ... YaY!
  
  Rosanna is almost gone. Cady McClain is gone ... and wasn't she just so brave to dump on her Story after the fact? Just like she did last time at AMC and the lastest time here and the lastestest time at AMC again. Kudos, Cady! I know some people think you're a flaky snivelly coward ... but you'll always be one of the top Soap Bitches to me. Grin.
  
  CZP's Babs is getting a big Story based on her RL bout of cancer. I'm so happy that CZP beat it ... and that Babs will be getting some substantitive airtime. Yay! Hopefully this means more Paul, too! And ... maybe the upcoming pathos will re-adjust Will's long running and annoying attitude to not just his Mother ... but his Brother, too. Wednsday's episode had me shaking my head. Will not only reneged on his promises of forgiveness for Paul ... he again refused to accept responsibility for his actions in killing Rose. Teflon. Hey! You know what would be cool? Emily likes the young stuff ... maybe she and Will could have a go now that Dumily is up in the air? They both like to blame everyone but themselves ... they could shift their blame together! Heavy load ... the more hands the lighter. Yeah! But what to call them. Hmmmmm. Emily's new Willy. Hmmmmmmm.
  
  With what little time he had yesterday ... RH again rocked Paul. I love that he took up for Babs. I love that he didn't argue with Will's uncalled for attack. I love Paul. With almost no dialogue ... RH again showed me Paul's heart. Love love love. RH makes everything worthwhile. Yes, he does.
  
  Speaking of love ... I really enjoy Scott Bryce. I've said it before but I just have to say it again, I may HATE Craig ... but SB is the only reason I can at all understand Meg's feelings about him. Hunt Block just could not have made this work ... even when I used to love him his first years on the Show. No, it's SB's portrayal of Craig that makes me understand Meg's dilemma. And speaking of Meg ... KUDOS to MWil for terrific work in a thankless role. I really admire her.
  
  And, better late than never, I guess ... the Weekly Promo. Very well done. Dramatic. Exciting. And ... loved the Paul and Meg flashbacks. I'll take what I can get. Hee!

        • I so agree, it is a "World" of difference, Cataz! Meg and Paul warm my heart. Emily was a monster to use Paul's daughter the way she did, not only to get out of jail ... but to also manipulate Paul. I'm still worried about the Craig factor though. Spoilers indicate that he doesn't go through with killing the baby but the Story isn't over ... Craig could still put the baby at risk again.

  • I was glad that the Dr.'s made mention that there is a 75% chance that the baby will still be ok. I took that as a sign that even though Paul and Meg are both carriers of this disease, that the baby will still be ok.   Well what do you know? BOTH Paul and Meg seemed to be buying clues today....for only a few moments, though....dang it. Craig and Ro both did a good job in dodging their questions about what was going on between the dastardly duo - and a good job in providing distractions, whether it was on purpose, or not. Neither of them want Paul or Meg to learn the truth about their scheming together - with good reason. Paul would HATE what Rosanna is doing with his sworn enemy....No matter her reasoning for doing it. Time seems to be on their side, but I am kicking back just waiting for the truth to come out - cuz, we all know it will. And that goes for their future machinations against Paul, too. (Evil grin)

But I also have to wonder if this story is about Paul choosing to be with Meg even though they believe she is carrying Craig's baby. The way that Meg made the tough choice to stand by Paul when Emily was having his baby. It would take time and alot of soul searching on Paul's part.     I think Paul and Meg redeemed themselves pretty well for their roles in teh babyswitch....I dont care what anyone says....I think they tried their best where Emily was concerned to keep the baby safe......Meg put Johnny back in Jen's arms.....eventually and finally. As you know, I was watching back then when Meg fell and lost her baby. There was NO hysterectomy. It was a rough miscarriage - and the doctors told her it would be very difficult to conceive - NOT impossible. Don't know where the trolls are getting their history info. Extremely difficult does not equal "impossible." I am also rooting for Meg to be pregnant with PAUL'S child - a child from their love for each other. Besides, it's time that Paul had a child, and with a woman he is IN LOVE with to top it off! And man, do I hear ya' about the nut-job and her pregnancy with Paul's child....She alone (for several reasons and actions) is responsible for killing Paul's baby. This is Sarah!





She is the daughter my nephew and his wife adopted - now, making my sister a "Grandmama"....They arrived tonight from Guatemala with her. Isn't she a little doll? She is 1 year old - and they knew she was theirs before she was born! After a year of waiting she is finally home! She was soooooo good and happy at the airport. Congrats to my nephew and his wife, and my sister and her husband!!!!

This is why there were no Paul snappys from today's eppy. (Looks like no Paul tomorrow, so I can make today's snaps for tomorrow night!)

Had to share our joy!

  • Well, it was a FANTASTIC show for so many reasons! Entertaining and delightful. Lots of honey, a pinch of salt and dash of spice. Very Yummy. I loved the irony and the back and forth between the quad. Loved all the Paul & Meg stuff and loved Paul's reaction to running into Rosanna at Al's.... his phone didn't ring. Bwhahahaha.......it looked like it was ringin' to me! VBG!!.

    I also LOVED Paul walking in the police station and telling Craig.... "Craig, I have a cabin in those woods. If some guy is attacking women, I should know. ". HAHAHAHA!!!! Yep, Paul.....You Should know! LOVED it, LOVE HIM! ! I can't help but love the gloating going on.....Paul's such a Guy!!.

• When I first heard Paul tell Ro that they would get married on Halloween, I said to myself "What?" One of my favorite episodes from 2003 (10/31): James: "I knew you would be thinking of me this evening. It warms your father's heart that you remembered him on his birthday." The emotion in Roger's voice made me cry and took me back to when Rose died thinking Paul had poisoned her. Paul told Ro that it was a sentence worse than death that he didn't have a chance to tell Rose how much he cared for her and that he would never hurt her. But that's Roger. . .he packs so much emotion into a scene using his incredible voice, facial expressions and body language that I'm constantly blown away by his phenomenal portrayal of Paul Ryan. I MADE IT!! Phone lines are back in tact - after some idiot dug them up - ARGH!!! BACK ON TOPIC.....DID PAUL MEAN WHAT HE SAID TODAY? My first reaction was the same as before - I thought he really wanted to mean what he was saying to Rosanna....then I re-watched a couple of times, and there was something I just couldn't quite pinpoint about him. For example - that look he gave her when she asked if he could forgive her for letting Craig go. And other subtle little nuances that were just there - below the surface. And I was like 'Is he playing her? Setting something up?' That's just one of the things I love about Roger - that he can do that. Keep you guessing about where his character is actually coming from. Today was like the toss of a coin....And then the previews - He wants to get married on Halloween....and day for TRICKS and treats. I am not sure which side of the coin I am going to have to go with for today - but it (for sure) was like watching an episode of The Twilight Zone. Was my initial reaction correct? Or was my impression after seeing the clips a few more times the right way to think?

• Like you, TK ... my initial impression was that he meant what he was saying (at least on a conscious level.) He wants his "princess on a pedestal" relationship with Rosanna back. He is furious with Meg ... and very very hurt. He wants his feelings for her to be firmly in the past. But, intellectually wanting something ... and actually feeling it are two very different things. Like a lot of people Paul thinks that if he wants it to be so ... it already is. Basic "emotional survival" trap. So yes ... I firmly believe that Paul was telling the truth.   • You know I've always said that it's IMPOSSIBLE to please everyone. Everyone's tastes, likes and dislikes are completely different. All ATWT can do is try and come up with compelling stories that hopefully 'most' of the audience will like. I don't think soaps has changed, I think they are running out of ideas to keep things new and fresh. So the fans complain when things start repeating themselves. I think writers are in a constant struggle with coming up with something new and will surprise the audience. Everyone loved the Carly storyline when she was dying. No one wanted her to die. Yet they came up with something that would keep her alive and hopefully surprise the audience, but it brings her character into moral dilemma. And the Carly fans are now upset. I think being a soap writer is most times a thankless job, but they do their best. • I think overall the in order for something to hold an audience's attention, it has to be outrageous. And I remember being a little girl and watching "stories" with my grandmothers. The Who's the Daddy, amnesia, cheating/lying/manipulating stuff was unheard of on TV back in the 70's (and somewhat 80's). • Well, my answer is two-fold on both issues. Yes soaps have changed - in the aspect of how long (or rather SHORT) the story arcs are these days. I remember in the good ol' days - stories would play out for months and months before any resolving - or payoff - would happen....and we LOVED watching it! Of course it would frustrate us to no end that our fav characters - or fav couples - would be two seconds too late to learn the truth - or would ALWAYS miss their lovers by minutes - and then all hell would break loose! But we dang sure would never miss a minute of it! BUT the formula of soap opera pretty much remains the same. And it HAS to in order to survive.   • As for the audience - I don't believe for a second that the general soap opera audience has changed. And I base that on folks I know who stay away from all of the 'online' - you call them CRITICS (and they aren't even good critics, because they don't even begin to understand that which they constantly bitch about) and I just call them COMPLAINERS. Soap fans LOVE the genre, and like I said above - although they get frustrated with the near-misses and storyline twists - they STILL love to watch their stories. The internet has provided an outlet for those who certainly must bitch 24/7 - and they don't just do it in the soap opera communities - they are EVERYwhere on the net. It is truly a reflection of sad, lonely, and rejected souls. And to top it off they ALL believe they can write soaps better than the pros! HA! And that is exactly how soaps and the characters are still managed today. They HAVE to be. • Well, I would agee that the basic soap formula is very much intact it's just that, like TK, said, has much shorter overall story archs. I like more umbrella type stories where the characters are all integral but I think budget reductions has sliced into that and now we seem to have more characters isolated in their own bubbles more than what used to be. I also think the twists come more often and turn harder than they used to. I think there is more emphasis on shock value and the payoffs just don't come often enough. LMAO - At those who seem so shocked by what happened in that court room....Someone should tell them this is Rosanna!!! The woman who all but twisted our guy into a pretzel - and then BROKE him - more than once! ARGH! And Paul was 'killed' again today - by Rosanna's betrayal - brought about by listening to his enemy. She was almost equal to Shakespeare's Othello, today. Oh yea - this SHOULD come back and bite her on the @ss. OMIGOSH!! Paul's face when she backed down - his voice when he called out to her!! (And a credit to Meg today - she seemed to be the only one who bought a clue about what was happening in that courtroom....or at least she knew something untoward was happening.) And how Paul was reacting to Ro at Fairwinds...."Really? Then you shouldn't have lied." 'Course, she will most likely be lying again tomorrow, trying to soothe him over.
