I DO understand the complexities of everything, but even in "old" soapland, there was a payoff at some point. After 2 years of watching Paul and Meg, I'm still waiting for their payoff. And it's frustrating me enormously. I seriously had to leave my house after today's show b/c I was so upset (how ridiculous is that!?). Great work to MWil and of course, RH. Ah ... Miss Becks. I do understand. It is frustrating and after Fridays show, heartbreaking. But, and I am not trying to minimize your feelings or need for a break ... it's par for the course in Soap for me. As not just a Paul fan ... but an old Todd fan, let alone other characters and couples I followed for years on other soaps ... this is all pretty much by the book. Sigh. What always gets me through is the acting. I've always seen Soap as basically an exploration of Emotional Response to circumstances ... of all kinds. I think that is what the hard to take plots are all about. Do I want "payoffs" ... yes. But in my many years of watching ... they have been always brief for the characters I follow. But the emotional depictions ... the moments when I actually forget I'm watching TV ... make it worthwhile for me. Listen ... I'm not trying to preach to you here.
