<b>Well, I would agee that the basic soap formula is very much intact it's just that, like TK, said, has much shorter overall story archs. I like more umbrella type stories where the characters are all integral but I think budget reductions has sliced into that and now we seem to have more characters isolated in their own bubbles more than what used to be. I also think the twists come more often and turn harder than they used to. I think there is more emphasis on shock value and the payoffs just don't come often enough. As to the audience......I think we're more impatient. Where would we be without the FF button, Where would we be without the Flood of spoilers. Most likely in a much better mindset.....grin! People complain about daytime being filled with unbelieveable plots and yet PrimeTime is launching a show with Cavemen. Which, BTW, I won't be watching but I just had to make a point. ... Oh and what about that nightime soap....Desperate Housewives? I don't watch that either, but I did see someone stick a barbeque fork in the belly of a pregnant woman. Was she done?
