This is apparently true, judging by the preponderance of information avaliable. I have known people who, if you make a bad early (not necessarily *first*) impression, or ever get on their 'bad side,' they are your enemy for life. So it must have been for Vivian Vance and William Demarest, as William Frawley was probably like this. And since neither Vance nor Demarest were anything like a 'pushover,' that made the hate quite obvious.
