I read the trivia notes, Geoff. I remember seeing an edition of "E True Hollywood Stories" a while back about Bill Bixby and I remember the part about his ex-wife commiting suicide. That was before I'd ever heard of Brenda Benet (which was yeaterday, with your post). Nothing is sadder than suicide.

I found it interesting that she was once married to Paul Petersen (Jeff on "The Donna Reed Show"). He went on to become an advocate for child actors who, like himself, had trouble adjusting to life in the real world, and especialy those who, like himself, were treated as mere commodities. Few from that era flourished the way Ron Howard did. Some, like Petersen, Laura Chapin ("kitten" in "Father Knows Best"), and Jay North ("Dennis The Menace") managed to survive their turbulent childhoods. Others, like Anissa Jones (Buffy, "Family Affair") weren't so lucky.
