Actually don't carry it with you at all (or at least turn it off). You don't have to place a call to have your position known. I think this holds true to some extent with non gps phones also. They keep logs of what towers your phone was "handshaking" with. The GPS phones can tell exactly where you are, the old school phones just know what part of town, both are capable (and do) track your movements.

But what does it matter if you are not doing anything criminal? -grin-
