Date Posted: 12:05:02 02/26/04 Thu In reply to: Charlie 's message, "Re: Peartree Green History" on 20:45:45 08/03/03 Sun I am researching Stockbridge racecourse and am trying to find out more about R C Garton - who I take to be Richard Charles a relation of William Garton of Roselands, Woolston who died there in 1905. I wonder whether 'Garton House' was 'Roselands'. Richard Garton at the time of the 1901 census was living at Horsham. For the record R C Garton owned Hips and Haws winner of the last Stockbridge Cup on Wednesday 6 July 1898. I take it that he was a partner in Manbre and Garton sugar importers and refiners.
