I don’t think you should hold on to something that was taught to you and you don’t know the meaning behind it. I think it is every individual responsibility to search and find the truth for themselves using what they were taught as a guide and to start with. Your Rabbi, Minister, mom, or dad can’t stand before judgment for you. I know somebody that was following a religious group because she thought it was right because she grew up with it (Mom raised her on it and mom knows best). I suggested that she did her own studying not just listing what other say just because she grew up on it. She found out that they say contradicted the truth. She felt bad because she thought all this time she was doing things right. If she didn’t go off doing her own studying and just looking at what they gave her, she would have still been with them. Christians believe that the Bible is the Word of God. If that the case I don’t think it is idiolatry, if God anointed his followers and gave them his word so other to learn from and follow it, I don’t think it is wrong if you hold on to it, study it, memorize it, so you can live it. You are doing what God wants you to do. In Jeremiah 31:31-34 God gave Israel a New Covenant what do you think about those verses? [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ]
