Date Posted: 10:52:53 10/16/03 Thu In reply to: HG3.5 's message, "Re: what players from Illinois will be in NBA?" on 06:42:59 10/16/03 Thu You are correct - SP is "not" top 100 - he is more like top 70 - #66 by Rivals, 67 by Insiders (Tellup), 63 by Hoopmasters (Gibbons/Coleman), also listed top 100 by ESPN, Sporting news, Athleon and (the bible) Street & Smith. Do you need links to these sites or page #'s to the bb mags that just came out??? But all of these sources are "wrong" - is that what you expect us to believe? You mention Loyola - I was there too and thought SP looked good in all 3 games - especially against Patrick Henry (where he muscled in 20+ pts). Granted he wasn't in "mid season form" and did trail the ball a lot on O - but he was always back on D and did a solid job (clearly the best big there). Also do you account for the fact that he was tripple teamed every game - especially w/Justin not there (and Jeah showing up late on Sunday). No one in ILL hs bb can guard SP 1 on 1 - that's "National Player" level. >Check out the recruiting sites that actually saw >Pruitt play this summer. They don't rank him in the >top 100 anymore. Telep is good but the others you >mentioned are a joke. Again you are dead wrong. All of the above sites/mags/analysts have SP listed as mentioned. Over the summert his "stock" went down from Elite top 25 national status to top 75 level - that still ain't damn bad - to be consdiered by "experts" to be one of the top 75 hs bb players out of thousands of school boys who play this game!!!! Like 50cent said - Izzo, Crean, Davis, Olsen, Matta, Leitao, Ammaker, Alford, Keady, Self and of course Weber (just to name a few) - ain't stupid or crazy - and were all desparate for SP's services. So many folks just don't realize how pissed Izzo and the entire MSU nation were that they lost the battle for SP (the Ilini nation would have been even more pissed had things gone the other way). SP has battled injuries for 2 years and has an amazing skills/upside - and grandted a lot to prove - but all the best talent evaluators (major D1 head coaches who get paid the big bucks for signing players like SP and developing them to their best potential) all seem to know something that detractors on this site don't about SP. We'll give you a "wink" from NYC on June 25, 2008!... > >Pruitt did struggle this summer. I saw him a month or >so aago at Loyola and he didn't look good. He had no >bounce. I thought maybe he was out of shape or the >injury is still bothering him but he didn't have the >game of a national type player. [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
