*Thin smile curling the corners of her lips skyward, the slender mare creeps forth out of shadow into light from the depths of forest, gaze finding the vague shadow of the stallion she had professed her love to. Wind shifting, the breeze sharply brings his leathery scent to her thin nostrils, fluttering with anticipation, but it also brings words... words? And suddenly a figure of mare is at his side, his pledge thick and syrupy, dripping and telling this mare of his love for her, only her, how he wished only to have her at his side. Motion grinding to a halt, she flings her slender neck sharply skyward, eyes suddenly flashing with fear and apprehension. Darting back to the shadows from which she had emerged, she shivers lightly, smile bottomed out and completely gone. Yes... this was the way love was supposed to be. She had thought that perhaps nothing would go wrong this time, nothing would change and hurt her... again, she had been wrong. This was a forth time. Trust scraping it's belly at her feet, completely gone, slinking away to never resurface, she pulls back further, one fore placing itself underneath and below her to propel her away. She waivers; an almost-smile wrinkles her smooth lips, half-proud that he had made a better choice, that he would be happier with someone better than her, someone who could help him more than she could. Of course... trust meant nothing, love meant nothing, and it had always been that way - she had been wrong, he had been wrong, her great-uncle had been wrong. With one somber nod, pleased that he had taken the liberty to do what was best for himself, she dissolves into the depths of shadow behind her in utter silence, chilled heart feeling nothing, face untouched and unchanged, free from the burdens of trust and whisked from the two enamored equines in a swift breath of her atmosphere.*
