In defense of the BCT, I find it difficult to call a section that recently won multiple APSE awards mediocre. Granted, awards don't mean a ton in the end, but if others in the business are placing value on their work then it should probably be mentioned.

As a former Beaver County resident and subscriber, I still keep up with their coverage. The high school preview looked sharp and had a few good features, though I just skimmed the team stuff. Their pro coverage isn't anything great, but should it be a priority? They've got to be down to 20-25k in circulation. They don't have the resources to cover the pro teams like the PG or Trib.

But they seem to cover high schools a ton, which is exactly what they should be doing considering the communities there. I don't think they've got great writers but they seem capable enough.

As for Perrotto, he's got experience and not much else. He doesn't break news and he's never been a great writer. So what does he add in this day and age? If he's been unhappy for 30 years, maybe the problem lies with him and not the employer.
