Camelot Ranks and Promotions
Section I: Merits and Awards
What are Merits/Awards?: Merits (also referred to as Awards) are signs of honor and recognition that will be displayed on the Merits page. They designate a special quality of individual, one that has sacrificed his or her time for the kingdom, or exudes some special quality.
How are Merits/Awards given?: When a member of the guild shows the qualities of attaining a merit, then he/she may be recommended for the award. A full description should be given as to why you think this individual deserves, and exactly what this individual has done. This request will be reviewed by a panel of selected members, if they do not feel this action or individual deserves the accolade then they may turn it down. If they feel that award is justified, then the request is passed onto the KoRT for review. Once again the KoRT may veto or accept this request, if accepted the merit is official and is displayed on the Merits page at the time of the next updating.
Can Merits/Awards be taken away?: (A note here: punishment does not really fall under my category of specialization, but here are my thoughts) Well, for most actions where one would consider a merit could be removed, it is most likely a serious offense, instead it is more likely the concerned party will be demoted or exiled.
(I’m going to suggest this, a member must be in the guild for two (2) months before eligible for promotion, this will serve to act as a period of testing an individual’s activeness and commitment to the guild.)
Section II: The Ranks
Rank 1: Page
Description: This is the beginning rank for all new members of Camelot. This rank carriers no responsibilities other than to be active and game with fellow guild members. While a Page may take it upon himself/herself to receive some extra work or volunteer for a job, this is not mandatory. A Page may be a new member to the guild, but he/she is still a member of the guild, all honors and merits may be bestowed upon them if a Page proves so worthy, a Page is also to be treated with respect and honor, it is not uncommon for a Page to act with all the dignity and grace of a more experienced member.
Rank attained by: Agreeing to the rules, and being accepted into the guild.
Rank 2: Squire
Description: This is the next rank following Page. This rank denotes a member of the guild that has more experience than a Page and has shown in some way that he/she posses a quality that embodies Camelot’s spirit. A Squire’s responsibilities are merely to continue to learn and understand the guild, although a Squire may seek out a more active role in the guild’s workings. Jobs a squire accepts can often go towards additional accolades and certainly helps improve his guild record.
Rank attained by: For a Page to become a Squire he must have been in the guild for two (2) or more months and have attained one (1) merit or more, in addition recommendation by a higher ranked guild member (knight of above) is required.
Rank 3: Knight
Description: A knight embodies the spirit and aura of Camelot. They represent the elite of the guild, long standing members and truest companions. They are called from across the realm to display their loyalty and wisdom. This rank denotes high honor, and more responsibility, as a Knight a member should try to assist those of lower ranks whenever possible, answering questions, active guild participation, and sometimes ever more are expected of a Knight.
Rank attained by: To attain this rank a member must be a Squire, he must a good knowledge on Camelot’s general rules and policies. Also, the member must have earned two (2) or more merits, and upon consideration is to be reviewed by a panel of judges (with the possible Knight absent). The judges will review and discuss the candidate and decide if he/she is ready. If the panel decides yes then the decision is passed onto the KoRT, the whole of the current KoRT will review the application provided by the panel. The KoRT may deny or accept the promotion. At this stage it would be wise for the panel/KoRT to ask some of the candidates friends questions, additional guild members may be asked at the discretion of the panel/KoRT. If both the panel and KoRT are in agreement on this promotion, then the individual will be promoted at the next guild meeting.
Rank 4: Noble
Description: A rank of high standards and great honor. The Nobles of Camelot represent an elite group of honorable and just members of Camelot. Skilled in the rules and possessing great wisdom, a Noble is a benevolent and great asset to Camelot.
Rank attained by: Exceptional guild service and knowledge. To be considered for promotion a Noble must have been a knight that has shown some special quality. While no additional merits are required for this rank, a knight must be requested numerous times for this promotion (and not by the same person), or they must have shown that they posses the demanded qualities. The selected member will be approached about his possible, to see if he/she is interested, afterwards the whole of the guild will be allowed to vote upon this member, while it is not necessary for everyone to vote, comments and yea or nay will be taken into consideration. Above all a member of this rank should be there due to performance and guild relations, not because he is one of the KoRT’s best friends.
Rank 5: Knight of the Round Table (alias: KoRT)
Description: The leaders of the whole of Camelot. Those that attain this position do so because of their extreme dedication and service to the guild, honorable, just, trustworthy, and compassionate, those in possession of this rank represent the spirit and virtues of Camelot in its highest.
Rank attained by: A whole guild vote, this is the only way to ensure that the requested KoRT is the right person for the job. A KoRT is in possession of awesome responsibility and weighty decisions, this is a rank not to be taken lightly.
Special Note: A KoRT is the highest rank in the guild, they must represent all the qualities of Camelot and show their complete knowledge on guild rules/workings. There may be up to a maximum of 4 (or 6 input please!) KoRT at one time. They may serve until they leave the position.
Can a KoRT be impeached?: Yes, to ensure that a KoRT is doing his job and fulfilling his duties this is a time necessary. To impeach a KoRT a majority vote conducted throughout the entire guild must be done, also a list of charges must be represented. Impeaching a KoRT is serious, as it signifies they were doing something so dishonorable and so wrong that they were no longer desired.
Rank 6: Legend
Description: A legend is a retired Noble from the courts of Camelot, they are not required to do anything, but their voices are still to be respected and upheld, this rank is equivalent to Noble.
Rank attained by: Attaining the rank of Noble and then retiring from the guild, a legend may return full-time to the guild at any time at the rank of Noble.
And that concludes my rank/rules ideas, please respond with your ideas and suggestions.
