Saturday night -- Billy Stocklin, Wednesday, August 04, 06:40:41pm [3]

Hubert and I would like to thank a few people who have been paramount in the recent sucess we have had. First of all, Scott Herzog has been a tireless source of information and quality work, as well as a good friend. I'm not quite sure why anyone in the area would take an engine to anyone else. Mike Kurtz and Ronnie at Century Automatic are AWESOME. The glide we have in the car we tore down last night- it has 77 passes and everything looks brand new. Those of you who know us know that we can break anything and Century Automatic has given us a piece which has proven to be as good as anyones. Thank you Mike- I would recommend your product to anyone. The third would be John Harrison. Those of you who frequent our events know that my car is as consistent as anyones and from a drivers perspective is very predictable, stable and easy to drive. Thank you John, the car is incredible and does everything we ask it to do. Thank you to the three of you-

Thanks to everyone in TORA -- Will Hanna, Monday, August 02, 02:11:16pm [2]

I'd just like to say thanks to all the TORA guys and pat them on the back, because yall are really coming along. The parity and quality of the cars is really there. Yall have always worked with us to get the show's off as quick as possible.

It looks like it may be a while before I get to work with yall again, as I'm about to move off to Florida to take over Caps Coach & Trailer....(if you need a toter home or trailer check us out at motor-toterhomes.com shameless plug)

I will note one thing your series needs to work on, and it's a problem that is had at all outlaw events - too many people on the starting line. It's a safety hazard and a distraction to the driver and the real crew guys on the line that need to be there. Bottom line is there just gets to be too many people down there. One way to help this out is maybe give out 3 bright arm bands for crewmembers, and only those people can go down to the line.

Other than that, great job battling the heat. We got the show done at 1:30 am, with a one hour break after the first session. Good luck at yalls next events, i'll be watching from the net. maybe i'll sell enough trucks and trailers to bring out my PSI/BAE outlaw 10.5......

Will

Mike the Hitman Hill and Outlaw Jack Barfield -- 10.5 racer, Saturday, July 31, 11:26:03am [1]

It was a good night last night, at Jackson, SC. It was the house of hook. Mike Hill came late and unloaded his Stang of the trailer and went a 4.70. On his second past he went 4.69. Outlaw Jack came back with a 4.68. We thought that would have been the fastest past of the night. Until The Hitmans last past. He went a 4.66, wit a 1.125 60ft., 307 at the 330 ft and 4.66 @ 148 MPH. it was like the car was on a rope, LOL. Half way down the track Mike was still picking up the tires. The crowd went crazy it was a good night last night. Good luck to Outlaw Jack and Mike Hill on the rest of the season.

Pine Valley or HRP Aug 7th ?? -- fan, Saturday, July 31, 10:04:51pm [2]

I was wanting to know how many (TORA)are going to Lufkin Aug 7th or HRP (Clobberthon). I know that the track in Lufkin needs alot of work in the pits. The blacktop in the entire pit area is real soft and breaking apart. Looks like the the Grand Canyon. Not real good for a low car. I was wanting to know where to go that weekend.

[> [> It's legal because TORA and KOTH don't have any height rules regarding the front end like PRO does. The guys with cars that won't do the same just need to run a tube with a piece of metal out front to trip the beams like the newer style cars with the big overhangs do. They aren't stupid, they set the ride height up to take advantage. They aren't cheating, because it's not against the rules, but I have a feeling now that the cat is out of the bag, it might get a look see. -- Oops! [Edit]

[> [> OK, if they are two inches lower at the starting beams, then the tires would trip them. The two inch higher beams are tripped by the front end. No big deal, just put something on all the cars that sticks out just as far and low as the newer body style cars. Don't get mad at the forward thinking of the Naiser boyz, get smart and figure out how to do the same. -- Don't get mad get even, Saturday, July 24, 11:04:18pm [1]

[Edit]

[> [> [> Maybe if you understood how his car works it would help you some trying to figure it out. I have 2 times slips were he ran a 4.72@151 and a 4.75@150. I ran a 4.92@151 doesn't add up does it? To you it proably doesn't but looking at the time slips and seeing how wicked fast that car is the first 330 of the track it makes since. See he has a small block and a clutch. He has that motor wound up to who knows what and with it wound up and dumping the clutch it moves fast. But also haveing a small block he doesn't have to power to run the big mph like the big motors do. I had a car with a big small block in it and it was the same deal i ran5.0s and 4.98@138 mph. The porshe with the blower runs 4.75@160 does that add up? Learn how things work before making another statment like that -- Rat, Sunday, July 25, 12:44:26am [1]

[Edit]

[> [> [> [> I based what I said off time slips I've looked at. It may not happen at all tracks and in both lanes, but it does happen. Think about it, the staging beams are set by the tires and the 330 and 660 are tripped by the front end. That turns his 60ft into 57ft and his 330ft into 327ft. Where do you get the "doesn't have the to power to run the big mph like the big motors do," he has run big mph too, 157 on one pass that I can remember. The car is bad fast and the whole Naiser crew deserves cudos. They have an advantage over old body styles that can't be set up to click the lights with the front end down track. Why do you think that PRO and other organizations have minimum height requirements? The Porshe has a throttle stop, so yes that does add up. So, I believe I do know how things work Mr. Rat. -- Cat, Sunday, July 25, 05:54:28pm [1]

[Edit]

[> [> [> [> [> so how does he trip the 60' and 330' beams when the front end is in the air? My guess would be with the bottom of the tires not the front end..there is a rule about body hieght..it's 3 inches. next time take a tape measure with to the track and measue it. I haven't done it myself but i bet it's not lower than 3 inches. If it was he wouldn't have a front end left on that car after running at some the tracks around here. -- Rat, Sunday, July 25, 07:06:10pm [1]

[Edit]

[> [> [> [> [> [> I watched the car, and the front end is down and he doesn't ride the wheelie bars very long, the car is awesome, you can't do that with junk! You just don't get it, the fact that they have there act together is why they can do those things. Also, the rear tires grow and raise the rear end down track, but the frontal forces push down on the front of the car. Look at some pictures of the good working cars at the start, and down track. You need to watch Naiser's car on a good pass, the car is phenominal. I can't believe you would dis their car and say it's not capable of performing some of the old pro-stock tricks, because it can. I like that car, I think it's the best working chassis in TORA or KOTH, and they have on of the smartest crews around. -- Cat, Monday, July 26, 07:30:35pm [1]

[Edit]

[> [> [> [> [> [> [> dis their car? never have "dis their car" i love the car and think it's awsome..thats why i'm always drooling over it in the staging lanes. as far as watching it on a good pass i was 5 feet from it when it ran a 4.72 and the front end was in the air till the 330 marker. You don't think it carries the front tires way out here ask jeff yourself i have already had this conversation with him about how the car works and leaves. Your the one disiing the car! your basicly saying that the only reason it's fast is because the front end it long. You need to loose the old pro stock trick shit.were only running 150mph not 200.by the time down force starts realy comming into affect the run is over. but to make this short what do you suggest is done to fix this prolem you seem to have with his car? make him race without the front end? evrytime some does good or runs good they have to think they are cheating the system somehow. -- rat, Monday, July 26, 08:48:27pm [1]

[Edit]

[> [> [> [> [> [> [> [> Why do you think PRO has the following rule: GROUND CLEARANCE Minimum 4 inches from front of vehicle to front axle; 4 inches for remainder of vehicle, except oil pan and exhaust headers? I never said the only reason the car runs good is because of the long front end, all I said is that it's an advantage over a car that has a shorter front end, and that's only if Naiser's car trips any of the down track beams with it. He may not do it at every track and on every pass, it all depends on how the car is set up and working. If you don't think that downforce is an issue at 150+MPH, then let Naiser strap you to the front and tell us how there's no downforce. The rearends are up on the tire and the fronts are down, unless you have a 2500 horsepower turbo or blown car, and anything can be anywhere at any given time.... -- Cat, Tuesday, July 27, 05:38:54pm [1]

The only way to ensure no one car has an advantage, is for TORA and KOTH to make sure all beams at all the tracks are set at standard heights, and check them. Then mandate minimum heights for cars just like PRO has. But of course your suggestion of removing front ends could be even better lol !!! I don't think they are cheating, I've said it before! They've got to be doing something against the rules to be cheating. They have an advantage over some cars and they're using it. I'd call that smart.

[Edit]

[> [> [> [> [> [> [> [> [> I thonk your missing one big ass point here..This isn't pro stock. this is OUTLAW 10.5. he wore my ass out 3 weeks strait and i realy don't give a damn about the front end so why should you? -- Rat, Tuesday, July 27, 09:09:51pm [1]

[Edit]

[> Hey Member your observations are correct in that the naiser car does have an advantage with his l9onger front end, but it isn't as much as you are making it out to be. The starting line beams are set at between 1/2" - 1", these are activated with the tires. The finish line is between 4"- 6" usaually the stardard is 51/2". Heres the math part. 5280 ft. in a mile. At 153 mph htats 810,288 ft. in an hour. 13,504 ft. in one min. 225.08 ft. in one sec. 2.25 ft. in .01 of a sec. 2.00 ft. in .00889 sec. If his nose is longer than say Rick Thortons 65' vette by 2 ft. then in his margin of victory was less than .00889 then the front end was an advantge. -- Paul Buell, Monday, July 26, 09:20:39am [1]

[Edit]

[> [> Two different track managers have told me their starting beams are 2" high, and when you do the math, you need to consider the car is accelerating, not at a constant speed. Just think, if it weren't a signicant advantage, it wouldn't even be a consideration. Ask any Pro Stock racer if he could win if he had the only car that clicked the down track beams with tires. I appreciate your effort at math, but factoring in acceleration which varies even through the RPM range and gears is a lengthy process, but the only accurate way to figure it. Bottom line the front end tripping the lights is an advange, you can have distance on a car from front tire to front tire, and get beat by the nose! -- Cat, Monday, July 26, 07:41:50pm [1]

[Edit]

[> [> [> Cat I don't think that you realise that I agreed with you that it is an advantage! If your nose of your car is two feet longer then you are going to run two feet shorter of a race. The only thing I am saying is alot of people are trying to say that this is a .02 to .03 sec. E.T. advantage. As far as the math part based on what the cars were running last weekend 150 -151 mph I used 153 mph because that speed is more likely the actual speed at the line that the car is traveling not 150, that is an average of the last 60 feet. The way the car is acclerating down the track has nothing to do with fact that at the fishish line when the car is at 153 mph the car is traveling 2.00 ft. in a time span of .00889 sec. At that time the clocks stop. If you are the car is 2ft. shorter with 2 ft. more to go it will take .00889 sec. longer to stop your timer. Bottom line is 2ft. shorter of a track is still an advantage just not as much of time advantage as some people are thinking. -- Paul Buell, Tuesday, July 27, 01:33:57pm [1]

[Edit]

[> [> [> [> all i know is if he's 2 cars ahead of me i'm going need more than 2 feet of over hang to help me out. -- Rat, Tuesday, July 27, 04:48:58pm [1]

[Edit]

[> [> [> [> [> Ya, I'd say that's a bit out of reach, but it is kinda like horse shoes and hand grenades, close does count! You're right, it's got to be close for any overhang to help, and that's only if it's clicking the lights. Most cars can't even hang with Naiser to make it a factor. -- Cat, Tuesday, July 27, 05:17:07pm [1]

[Edit]

[> Hey Member your observations are correct in that the Naiser car does have an advantage with his longer front end, but it isn't as much as you are making it out to be. [> don't even say something stupid like that. TORA has supported KOTH 10 times as much as KOTH has supported TORA. At every KOTH race there are ALWAYS 3-5 TORA cars, How many KOTH cars have been to TORA races? We race for $4000 to win here, and still no one from KOTH shows? Looks like ya'll are the one who are talking s#!t. -- tora member, Thursday, July 22, 08:22:53am [1]

[Edit]

[> [> There haven't been 3 to 5 TORA cars at every race KOTH has. Billy Stocklin (ALWAYS) and Naiser Crew (when their schdule allows) are the two that show up unless there is a 5k or 10k race in Dallas. However that isn't what is important the drive is long for all of us either that way or this way and alot of people can't drive that far and make it on time for races. We support TORA and made sure we had cars their at your last race. We've even hauled down with rain in the forcast and gotten rained out. Lets not start a stupid argument over it. Come when you can if you want and I'm sure our guys that can will continue to come your way. Lets make sure we do all support eachother and not get in a pissing match. -- Shan, Thursday, July 22, 06:46:39pm [1]

Payout's -- Dennis, Friday, July 23, 10:13:53am [6]

Once again why don't we take some of the money from the top and spread it to the lower place's. In the long run the car count would go up and everyone racing the event would be taking a little less from there pocket. If you look at it real close only a small number of particapants will ever win the race and $4000 to the top spot versus $2500 would still bring the same car count. Why dont we have a driver's meeting at our next race and vote on this??????????

Hey guys and gals! Just a reminder about Pine Valley. Watch out in the pits. The entire pit area coming apart with all this rain and also being built in a pond with a large levy around the complex. So for alot of you with low cars you might bottom out or sink to the frame. Other than that is a decent track

With Redline rained out, why not come test in Angleton?? -- Angleton Fan, Wednesday, June 09, 04:53:06pm [1]

With redline being rained out, why not come test out at Angleton's Brazoria County Bad Boyz race. They have a heads up unlimited class that pays $400 to win. Nothing to get excited about compared to what yall normally race for, but doesn't hurt to put some money in the back pocket for testing....

KOTH -- Black Bart, Monday, June 07, 03:39:50pm [3]

Here is a copy of a post I placed on the KOTH Board

I would like to congratulate all the Dalls folks that came to the TORA race this saturday @ Angleton. Your performance and professionalism was outstanding.

There were 19 cars that showed up to race for 16 spots. The qualifying order resulted in 2 Dallas and 2 Houston cars facing each other in the semi's guaranteeing a Dallas vs Houston finals. The semi's had both Houston car run 4.76's with Rick Cook edging out Naiser by .002 sec!! Rat did his customary excellant job of mowing down the tree, but Kim Smith had his number in their semi-final matchup. For those who might think Kim Smith in the Rick Thornton Vette was a shoo-in to win........The Red Vette had lane coice by a mere .01 sec. The finals was anybody's race!!!
The finals were as bizarre as the rest of the race was exciting. The entire crowd was on it's feet. Spectators lined the fence almost the entire 1/8th mile! As both cars pre-staged, then staged, Rick Cook staged last, came up on the trabs-brake and matted the throttle only to have the engine stumble and almost die....The lights flashed and Kim Smith was gone.........too soon.......red by .05 the whole croud was stunned and it took a few seconds for Matt and Rick Cook to realize they had won!!!!!!

It was with out a doubt one of the best races I've ever been to!! 19 cars showed up to race for 16 spots. The cutoff was an amazing 5.17!! In addition two of the three cars that didn't make the show came back with passes in the 4's!!!
I can only hope my schedule will allow a couple of trips up north to see more of the KOTH cars. This series has the makings for a memorable first season for the combined efforts of Texas' Outlaw 10.5 racers. I am looking forward with great intrest to the rumored Big payout 10.5 race later in the year. I hope it will come to pass.........Bart

Re: Negative posts on TX Pro Backhalf forum - DD is blocked from responding -- Jack Ciarletta, Friday, June 04, 02:01:43pm [1]

When you only tell two people something, you can narrow it down when a distorted leak occurs.

Denton Dragway maintains all stated coverage and policy limits as required by NHRA.

Three full time employees are responsible for track preparation and maintenance at the Dragway which is performed all year round. Our crew, as a rule, always preps our track to the max; the variable that we must address every night is what our customers will throw our way and at what frequency. It is important for me as an Track owner to get this news out because as more people are talking about the incident that occurred last weekend with Unc further distortion has occurred and that is how BS rumors start. It has been reported to me that both William Welker and Sammy Lattner both walked the track and offered thumbs-up before racing recommenced and I am comfortable that there was no track safety issue before his run.

The only concern that I have this weekend at Denton Dragway is who will win all the prize money at the Best Track in Div. 4. I can assure you that the track is run and prepped in the same way it has been since day one.

TORA Drivers meeting 5:30 pm at Angleton -- Will Hanna, Thursday, May 06, 09:20:51pm [2]

Attention in the pits:

There will be a mandatory drivers meeting for all TORA racers at Angleton at 5:30 p.m. At this meeting we will try to get everyone on the same page on how the race will be run, etc. Also, we will hand out run cards. Here's how that will go:

I will make enough cards to cover the amount of TORA entries we have for the field. The cards will designate what lane you run in which qualifying session. They will also designate the first two pairs of each session. So, 8 of the cards will have one designated pair. At the drivers meeting, each driver will draw a card, so the process will be random. If a driver is not present, a TORA official will draw for them. If you do draw a designated pair, it will only be for one session. ie you may draw 'Q1: First pair, Left lane' then in Q2 your card would just say 'Q2: Right lane' - note, no designated pair. If you are an ordered pair for a session and are not in the lanes for your pair, you will lose that session, no exceptions.

Also, to speed up the weighing situation, in qualifying only cars 4.99 or quicker will be weighted in addition to a pre determined number of cars to be weighed AT RANDOM at the discression of race officials. This should keep everyone honest. During eliminations round winners will be weighed. If a car is light, his opponent is declared the winner.

Eliminations pairings will be ran in an ordered manner. The lowest qualified pair of the round will go first, highest last. ie in round one, 8 vs. 9 will be first pair, 1 vs. 16 will be last. these pairs will be determined by race control, and distributed to the racers immediately after a round to let them know. This race will be ran on a tight turnaround (60-70 min), so crews need to take the appropriate action.

The track will be open earlier than the posted 5 p.m. for TORA and TPSA cars to make test laps if desired. TPSA qualifying will start at 6:00 p.m., TORA Q1 will start running down the track at 6:30 p.m. Test n tune cars wil be ran down the track during anticipated down times.

For all rounds a 'standby' call will go out 20 minutes prior to the round. 1st call will go out 15 minutes prior, second at 10 minutes prior and last call 5 minutes prior. A TORA official will pull the cars from the pits to maintain order (ordered pairs, etc.)

We feel that the above format will help make for a streamlined show that will be more entertaining for the fans and racers alike. If we can achieve this and get done at a decent hour (hopefully before midnight), it will be extremely beneficial to the TORA organization and Angleton Dragway. Many fans out there this weekend will be first time fans. We need to put on an entertaining show with cars constantly racing down the track. If they like it, they'll tell their friends and bring them to the next show. If they thought it was ok, maybe they'll come back, maybe they wont. If they dont like it, they'll tell 10 of their friends, and that's the worst advertising in the world. I'm confident we can avoid the latter consequence, but we do need to have the pitfalls of a sloppy show in the back of our mind.

Enough of that, lets just have some good racin this weekend! I'm looking forward to seeing whats new in TORA and TPSA this year!

Best regards,
Will Hanna
Angleton Dragway

In addition, much kudos to William, Jason and the staff for turning the best that Mother Nature could throw at us and all the related standing ground water into one of the best prepped tracks on such short notice.
