Subject: Vista is inevitable - until Bill Gates decides to change OS's yet again. It's not awful, but it's a hog - a big hog. XP ran ok in a half a gig, but Vista needs at least 2gb though Microsoft says it only needs 1gb. Inside...

I have a quad core processor (which means I have 4 processors) and 3gb memory. It's using a 1.5gb just to run vista. Once you get past that, it's not bad. So you need to make sure you have enough memory to run it.

Also, not everything is optimized for Vista yet which seems totally stupid to me. Voy is slow on my computer too so it's not your computer.

When you get a new computer, the manufacturer puts a lot of crap on it. There are trial versions of stuff and unless you want to buy it, uninstall it. There are services they think should be running in the background that you don't need.

You don't need to be afraid of Vista, just make sure you get enough memory.

[> [> And Cece -- I have Vista (and I'm getting used to it!) ... but I don't use MS Outlook for e-mail..... so I don't get Vista asking me inane questions like you do. I connect via Verizon FIOS and I go through their website to do e-mailing. I have Norton and I do all the Wibndows downloads for Security ... but since so many nasty surprises seem to be able to come through via e-mail, I feel a teensy bit safer. But then, maybe that's stupid and I just don't understand how it works! -- MichelleB, 12:21:01 04/24/08 Thu [1]
