Author: JJ (Ronda)--that should be "its" not "it's" in my post above. I'm usually better at grammar than that. lol
Subject: And you know I'm loaded with old CDs! LOL
In reply to: JJ (Ronda) 's message, "He doesn't think there is a generational gap. CDs are written in binary code (1s and 0s). It could be that your CD/DVD thing is bad (I've had that problem). Or it could be that it's software is "goofy" (his words). Can you play it using Windows Media Player or Real Player? Sometimes CD-Rs don't play on everything, but I've never heard of a genuine CD purchased in a store not playing on something unless there was another reason." on 16:06:40 10/18/08 Sat

[> [> [> [> No, it's not my player, JJ. New/recent CD's play just fine. As for software, I've tried it with both WMP and Nero, and both have that "static-y" sound. I have other players (Quicktime, Real1, and the like), but haven't tried them. If you were to HEAR it, you could tell that it was "digitizing" or "skipping" something. But when I rip it and replay it from the file, it sounds fine because it's been converted to a .wav or whatever. The Laser MUST be reading all the info, but the playback misses teeny bits. -- The Chief, 08:01:08 10/20/08 Mon [1]
