[> [> [> The easy answer is to delete your files, but an expert can still get stuff off it. If you really want to get rid of data, you would have to reformat the hard drive. The new user would then have to reinstall Windows and any other software they want, unless you want to do that for them. LOL -- JJ (Ronda), 18:34:00 02/17/07 Sat [1]

[> Media player skips -- Linda R., 19:32:28 02/22/07 Thu [1]

I am new to this board so hope this is not improper. you seem very sharp on computers. I have new Dell and am learning. my AOL media player skips. 2-3 seconds on and off and on and off. is this due to dialup or something else? Would appreciate being able to run cool DJE and CB and Jag stuff from youtube. thanks you very much. Linda R.

[> [> It could be your dial-up. Streaming videos and dial-up don't work so well. Have you tried downloading videos right on to your computer to watch? If so, does it still skip? -- Sarahsue, 13:21:40 02/23/07 Fri [1]

[> Definitely donate them. You can trash a computer if it's so obsolete noone wants it. But you have to pay to have a monitor trashed because it's harmful to the environment. -- judi, 12:11:03 02/24/07 Sat [1]

[> [> In my city they have a special TV/monitor collection twice a year. They have one or two designated areas that you can go to and "donate" your TVs or monitors to be discarded (without a fee). There is a limit of 3 items per year, so you have to give them your contact info along with your item(s). I'm assuming they charge you if you go over your limit. The problem is that you have to keep your stuff until that day rolls around. I would think that other large cities would have a similar program. -- JAG Junkie (Ronda), 12:36:23 02/24/07 Sat [1]

Re-formatting your hard disk will not permantly remove the infomation,The only way to truly guarante your security is to remove the hard disk and either take a hammer and smash it to pieces *remember to wear googles) or to drill multiple holes into the disk, once done it is safe to dispose of.

[> I;m taking my tower, (I took out the hard drive and crushed it), keyboard and moniter to our disposal service. They'll take it "as a service to me" as long as I give them the whole thing, which works great for me. -- Cookie, 20:40:06 02/27/07 Tue [1]
