Thanks for helping but they are both XP Home edition. The lap top has an earlier release but other than that the same. The wierd thing is they are both HP Pavilions and on the same network at my house but the desk top connects to thr router direct and the lap top connects wireless. I'm half way thinking of removing Norton Symantic and get a different anti-virus/security program. Any other suggestions? I'll try everything. -- The HarmyBoard HarmDrive
