Subject: Spock, I have noticed a "head in the sand" action taken by leftists, liberals, extreme right wingers, and Democrats regarding this anti-Jew, and anti-Israel sentiment. I have noticed the same regarding the US taking military action to defend herself or ensure her own security after 9-11. This it outrageous and I wonder if this is polarizing people here as it appears to me to be doing, those who care, those who don't, those who demonize the US in such a way as to give aid and comfort to the enemy/ies, etc.
In reply to: Spock 's message, "I haven't followed Auth's work closely, but it's usually provocatively controversial, to say the least, and not sympathetic to conservative viewpoints. What troubles me is how short people's memories are. The 20th century saw everything in society start accelerating and expanding exponentially. The price is that old must be jettisoned to make room for new -- including knowledge...and common sense. How long before Klintoon is an upstanding, moral citizen, leading this country through a Golden Age? I shudder to think." on 15:08:24 08/06/03 Wed

[> [> Now people who condemned US military action for her own safety in Afghanistan and Iraq are screaming that we must send troops to Liberia or we are not really compassionate, etc., while it is obvious that when we send troops to fight for our own security we are demonized. What a double standard and what hypocracy!

Here is a rather interesting quote: "Some in my party are sending out a message that they don't know a just war when they see it, and, more broadly, are not prepared to use our military strength to protect our security and the cause of freedom." Sen. Joe Lieberman, (7/28/03) -- William, 16:54:21 08/06/03 Wed (cache-mtc-ah04.proxy.aol.com/64.12.96.169)

[> [> [> [> [> In all fairness, what is interesting is that a year ago, Auth had a cartoon critical of Islam. Pointed out their "tolerance." It read, "We tolerate fanatics, suicide bombers, terrorist ‘charities’ and women … barely.” Boy did that get the Muslims in an uproar. -- SurveyGuy, 19:18:58 08/07/03 Thu (pcp03884941pcs.lndsd201.pa.comcast.net/68.32.204.89)

[> [> [> [> [> [> Don't you just wish that everyone could be as tolerant as the Muslims have shown themselves to be? There would be so much love, patience, joy, compassion, and mercy. There would no longer be women confined to their home or limited from higher education and the workplace. There would be no more women stoned to death or whipped or canned when they are accused of having sex outside of marriage or even after they are raped. There would be an atmosphere of tolerance in religion also. No one would worry about being harassed, ostrasized or tortured or killed for leaving Islam. -- William, 17:40:29 08/08/03 Fri (cache-dl03.proxy.aol.com/205.188.209.39)

Opps! I just listed the things that Muslims actually DO, not the things which they oppose. -- William, 17:52:12 08/08/03 Fri (cache-dl03.proxy.aol.com/205.188.209.39)
