Subject: Regarding thread Irish-Iraqi humour

From an Irish Passport Holder:

You American morons actually think that Irish people are not insulted by this?

Fucking Americans. I think that speaks for every actual Irish person.

Note, American passport holders are NOT Irish. Ireland is a nation and you cannot "decide" to be Irish anymore than I can "decide" to declare myself to be American.

If you don't like it I suggest you stick a gun in your mouth and pull the trigger. That's something most Irish people wish American tourists would do.

[> [> The poster doesn't speak for the Irish I've met. A group of us even marched round St. Stephens Green in Dublin for the parade and were greeted warmly. Irish will wave at tourist buses because they know they how many of their kin are in America and some may even be on the bus. The attitide of the poster is definitely French. The Irish are a lovely people. In fact we saw the delightful group "Spirit of Ireland" just last night. If you ever heard hal Roach, he uses "Paddy" and "Murphey" in his humorous stories all of the time. -- SurveyGuy (I guess French are anti-American, anti-semitic and apparently don't like the Irish either), 16:15:51 04/14/03 Mon (pcp01422563pcs.lndsd201.pa.comcast.net/68.81.153.209)

[> I think the post explains why the French liberals are considered so rude. Don't worry, I have no intention of visiting France. I would gladly return to Ireland. (They don't like the French much either, by the way.) Of course that characterization is not applicable to those in the countryside. In summary, the French apparently have no sense of humor. The Irish, on the other hand can laugh at themselves. Those of Irish decent in the U.S. can (and often do) hold dual citizenship. I've definitiely stopped buying or drinking French wines now. -- SurveyGuy (Many Irish feel they've been cheated by the new Euro setup)., 16:03:34 04/14/03 Mon (pcp01422563pcs.lndsd201.pa.comcast.net/68.81.153.209)

[> If you do return, here's questions you'd know the answer to if you were born and raised in Ireland: (1) What dry goods store is located in the Gap of Dunloe in Killarney? (2) What facility is located right next to the Irish National Stud Farms? -- SurveyGuy (I'd ask about Glendalough and which saint is associated with it, but everyone knows that), 19:14:05 04/14/03 Mon (pcp01422563pcs.lndsd201.pa.comcast.net/68.81.153.209)

[> Temper, temper, me friend (sic....or is that 'sick'?)! Do you kiss your mother with that mouth? Lay off the whiskey already.....either that or you haven't had enough yet. Where's your sense of humor? I for one speak as an American of partial Irish heritage. Incidentally, my sister-in-law, who's fully Irish-American, actually enjoyed the humor to which you so violently react against. (BTW: are you in France now because you got kicked out of Ireland, or decided they were too nice to keep company with?) -- Spock, 13:03:03 04/15/03 Tue (user-vc8fm1s.biz.mindspring.com/216.135.216.60)

[> [> I wonder how he'd react to this joke about diabilities: Why don't blind men bunji jump? Click for answer . . . -- SurveyGuy, 19:07:59 04/15/03 Tue (pcp01422563pcs.lndsd201.pa.comcast.net/68.81.153.209)

Q. Why don't blind men bunji jump?

A. It scares the hell out of their dogs.

(For those who wish to attack me for "insensitivty," I heard this first from a blind man.)

[> [> [> I think it's all an insecurity complex, and in this case, an accompanying superiority complex....nasty combination. No sense of humor, plus he doesn't get the joke, so he automatically takes it personally and as an insult, and then has to bluster and talk tough to compensate. What an exhausting lifestyle. -- Spock, 12:14:45 04/16/03 Wed (user-vc8fm1s.biz.mindspring.com/216.135.216.60)
